Hi! For those who seem to have identified their food triggers how long after eating a trigger food does your flare up normally start?
I am used to pain, wind and bloating almost immediately after eating a trigger food but yesterday morning I had a fry (for the first time in months and months) and was expecting immediate symptoms but none occurred. Today however, I have been feeling rubbish, nauseous, achy, tired and had very loose BM, abdominal pains immediately after my "safe" dinner this evening. Does anyone else find that it takes upwards of 24 hours for a flare up to kick in or is this something else?
Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts!

Yes, it can take between 2 days and up to 4 days for trigger foods to affect me. It depends on how slow your gut transit is.
Yes it certainly can. I had cornflakes earlier in the year and was absolutely fine so I had them the following morning, that night of the second day I was up feeling very nauseous, diarrhoea and feeling shaky. I was up half the night with it. The cornflakes has a very small amount of barley in them and they were considered 'safe' on the Low Fodmap diet, clearly not for me.
I started the Low Fodmap diet in January this year and it's been absolute life changer for me, apart from those cornflakes I've been really good. I used to suffer with diarrhoea and nausea before most days but no longer. I also take a probiotic and that is now, after 2 months of taking it, making a difference.
Hi. I was diagnosed with IBS-D in June. I've been having an extremely difficult time with trigger foods. I was told that stress is causing things to be worse. I can't eat almost everything between being allergic and then now this. Very frustrating. I usually have stomach cramps or mass stomach gurgles with in 45 min. It feels like a volcano erupting inside my stomach. Then usually diahrea . sometimes not until the next morning. My main triggers are chicken, pork, beef(not as bad as the other meat ), raw veggies, corn, peas, tomato based food(which is horrible effect. Especially with having acid issues).
I had been sick for 10 months 5 yrs ago and they finally figured out I had t o.o much acid in my stomach(literally was bulging on side) it made me nauseous 24/7 for 10 mo. I was put on meds in June. It gave me constipation immediately. So I stopped. I'm not on any meds. I haven't eaten pork in over 2 yrs and chicken for 9 mo. I don't have flare ups as much. But with so much stress these days. A lot triggers issues. Changes day to day. But no where near what I was going through 9 months ago.
