Coping Strategies

Hi,

I have posted before about my IBS but I still have some questions. My IBS usually comes after I accidentally overeat, or eat too much sweet foods or onion and garlic. I try to be mindful when eating any of these things or try to mostly avoid them. But occasionally I’ll make a mistake and be in incredible pain. As I’ve said in my other post my IBS consists of severe stomach cramping and diarrhoea and lasts for a maximum of 30 minutes and ends after I have emptied my bowels. I become so pale and faint and sweaty. The pain is so terrible, I would feel like I want to go to hospital. I would watch a movie to get my mind off the pain but I have to be on the toilet and the pain is so severe I can’t focus and I would writhe in pain. I feel alone because I hit myself when I’m in pain and I moan and scream. I feel embarrassed that I react this way, but I can’t help it. Do others have pain this terrible? I try my hardest to prevent these attacks, but sometimes I get excited when eating food and overestimate the amount of food I can eat. Although, I am lucky that my IBS is not as severe as others as I very rarely have an attack. I would appreciate hearing about any other coping strategies for staying calm and maybe reducing severe pain. Thank you.

Try eating frequent but small meals . See if that helps with your symptoms!
