Has any one tried Alflorex? I thinking of trying this
Alflorex?: Has any one tried Alflorex? I... - IBS Network
Alflorex?
Sorry I haven't.
Fortunately I'm not having to take anything at present as I'm following the low fodmap diet and feel so much better.
I hope someone that has tried these responds.
Stay safe and well.

Unfortunately I found no difference what so ever. I gave them a good try 5 months altogether.
Thank you for letting me know. Did you find anything that worked?
I found that the low fodmap diet helped to a degree but certainly wasn’t the complete answer. I was on low fodmap vegan diet for 6 months and it is only in the last month I have started to include a couple of things that are not low fodmap.
I take 1 Mebeverine tablet 20 minutes before my evening meal and that is all at the moment. I did take 1 Mebeverine in the morning as well but if I don’t go out, which obviously at the moment that isn’t likely then I can manage without. I also have taken loperamide, but again not at the moment.
We’re all different and everything doesn’t work for everybody. My GP also prescribed peppermint oil but that did not work at all, the pain became worse.
Trial and error I think.
I am currently about 6 weeks in and I have seen an improvement. My BM are more consistent and I am not suffering as much with bloating/gas/pain. I would say they are definitely worth trying.
Good luck!
Started taking Aflorex a week ago and also started low fodmap. Slight improvement but hoping that the longer I persevere for the better it will get
I did the free trial and felt good but didn't know if it was alflorex or other treatments. I decided to see how I was without them and have been fine so I don't think they made any difference.
Currently on my first months supply just over two weeks in. I had a strong initial gut reaction in first two days, when I considered abandoning them, but next day was better, by end of the week I felt better (I had been exhausted nauseous and nasty headaches).
I believe most of the unpleasant symptoms were caused by ‘bad’ bacterial ‘die of‘ but it’s just a guess really, going on other reports. No real change in bowel habits/ reasons for trying them yet, but it’s early days yet.
Should add I also have Gilbert’s syndrome - classified as liver disease and genetic, little known about, supposedly “isn’t a problem” according to most GP’s as not life threatening, yet does appear to affect a significant amount of people with basically detoxing, ( studies have shown this) which is why I may have suffered a little more than some it seems in first week. So please don’t be put off trying them.
I’ve also been on FODMAP diet since having gall bladder removed about 6 years ago.
Alflorex has changed my life. It has reduced my pain considerably and has made me far more tolerant to foods that I haven't managed to eat in years including FODMAPs. It depends on what specifically is causing your symptoms, whether your gut microbes needs re-balancing and whether your body responds to the strain that is in Alflorex. It is certainly worth a go. It's available on a free 2 month trial on joining theibsnetwork.org.
I have not been diagnosed with IBS but have had a lot of gut problems over the last few years. This has gotten steadily worse and I have appointment in September with a gastroenterologist. I have tried various diet changes, kefir etc but although helped a little, recently nothing seemed to help. I have been taking Alflorex now for three weeks. It took 2 weeks to kick in but the last week has been miraculous! No cramps or bloating. No pain and back to getting good sleep. So for me is great but early days!
