Fed up now: Hi does anyone else's bowel and... - IBS Network
Fed up now
Why don't you ask your GP for some laxatives as Diazepam is known to cause constipation as an unwanted side effect?
Yes, I get this. With me it's a build up of gas and/or incomplete evacuation. So frustrating as we expect to feel better when we've 'been' but that's not always the case, sadly.
Hi thankyou for replying this sounds like me,my haemorrhoids have bled so bad this morning its taken me a while to stop it i have just bought a sitz bath and hopefully i get some relief.
Hi,I’m very similar to you,I’ve had IBS for about 15yrs,but I’m not to sure it’s all down to IBS. I feel a tightening after going to the toilet,I also feel pain anytime I’m not sleeping. I also take Diazapam and have done most my life for stress and anxiety. My Gastroenterologist one of the best in the country tells me he uses diazepam with most his patience because he believes it’s a good tablet for anxiety and it’s been given a bad name.
The reason I like it is because you can take it as and when you need to,so not like twice or three times a day,you can sometimes have days without it,and it does not cause constipation.
I don’t know how much you suffer, but I suffer daily, and gets worse after evening meal,or when I’m stressed. I’ve just about come to the end of my tether with it,because as I say I’m not to sure if it is just IBS.
I,like you also suffer with piles. But I’ve had them from having my first child 54yrs ago. In my opinion I would not worry about the diazapam, but that’s about all I can really help you with.
Are you under any specialist,or have you had any test to rule out anything??
Hi sorry for the late reply.Ive not had any tests as my doctor said it's due to my anxiety and I carry all my tension in my right side,I don't think this virus is helping anyone of us,as it seems to be stressing everyone out.
I agree with you this virus is stressing everyone out. But just follow the guidelines. Stress is a major factor in a lot of people’s life, but what I’ve now told myself is to get rid of any people or problems in life that stress me. Now I know we have to have some stress, but we sometimes put up with more than we have to without realising it.
I personally, and this is just my opinion would ask my GP if I could see a consultant, just for my piece of mind. As I said before I’ve been through all I can,and still I’m suffering, but I know I have tried my best to sort my problem.
I now believe my problem is a bit of IBS,caused through stress,a food intolerance but I can’t nail it down, and my pelvic floor is very tight,so it’s causing a problem with the Perennial nerve.
I’ve been told all those factors, but can’t seem to cure it.
Sorry for the long post. Just one good piece of advise do try to keep your stress levels down. There’s lots of ways out there to do this.
Hi 20 years I was diagnosed with IBS after having my gallbladder removed,it wasn't a colonoscopy as such then you had to clear your bowels at home with the sachets they sent to you,you were then asked to lay on a machine which they told you to keep turning different ways so that they could take pictures.A friend of mine had a colonoscopy a couple of years ago and ended up with a perforated bowel, definitely put me off that.
But as you say it does help to try and get your stress levels down.
I have had a lot of stress this last five years after losing 3 members of my family.
Thankyou for getting in touch and stay safe.
Yep,I had a colonoscopy,and it really hurt,but showed nothing.
Then last year I was asked if I would have another I refused,so he suggested instead of clearing my bowels at home, would I have an ennema, and where they just put a camera up one side of your colon,I can’t remember the name. Anyway that hurt too,but still showed nothing. I didn’t know you had your gall bladder out as well,me I regret that. But to come back to stress,I’ve had a very stressful life, but I’m trying to change that.

Hi I'm sorry it's taken me all this time to reply I hope you are keeping well, how are your stress levels? Mine have been all over the place this last 12 months and I know many people have suffered too.I've lost relatives and a cancer scare concerning my daughter.I'm now stressed again as I was quite ill after the Covid vaccines, how were you after having them?
Now they're saying the Oxford has not as much protection against the Indian Covid as the Pfizer one,my partner had the Pfizer one and no side effects.
I have now got awful cramps since hearing this,to be honest my bowels have not been right since gallbladder removal, they say the bile now drips into your small intestine I should have asked at the time of the 'op'.Stay safe. x
Hi there Prue,Well there’s no change here,in fact the pain is getting more severe and I’m finding it difficult to control the pain. I’m still on my Diazepam which does help me from getting to anxious.
I have had the two vaccines I had the Oxford one,and I can’t say I had much reaction from it. Going back to your gallbladder I feel the same I’ve been worse since it was took away. But I take Lansoprazole 15mg orodispersible every morning, but I don’t know if they help.
At the moment I’m going through a bad time with my GP,so no point even going to see him,I am looking to change him.
That’s all I can think to say,but I’m pleased you answered me, you ever need to chat,no problem. You take care, stay safe.
prue1956, my wife responded to benfotiamine a form of vitamin B1 (thiamine) for her Restless Leg and it made me look into what else this vitamin I knew little about could do. It's needed by the vagus nerve to perform it's many functions connecting the brain to the gut. Two of these links introduce the vagus nerve's connection with IBS and the third thiamine's functions in the brain. Thiamine is often at a deficiency as certain food products such as raw fish, and shellfish, contain thiaminases - enzymes that destroy thiamine. For more information about thiaminases search on " Thiaminases and other Antithiamin Factors." Large quantities of tea, coffee interfere with it's absorption too. ,The thiamine forms sulbutiamine and TTFD are efficient passing through the blood/brain barrier. Benfotiamine is another that offers good absorption in the body compared to thiamine hydrochloride. Magnesium is a component needed to convert thiamine to it's active form. It too is often found to be deficient in the diet The krispin link contains information showing causes for loss of magnesium. Loud noise, heat and stress are among those listed. Also found there are forms of magnesium and a calculation for daily needs. Magnesium L-threonate is a form that can pass the blood brain barrier and can be included with other forms in calculating daily elemental magnesium. Boron increases magnesium absorption. Search on "nothing boring about boron" for more info. Always consult your health care professional before using any supplement.
