Hi, I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice on food which is specifically bad for ibs or can trigger it. I’ve learned that my body cannot correctly digest dairy products but I’m just interested to learn about other people’s experiences.

Advice on food which triggers ibs
Hiya,
After 20 years of IBS I've learned mine is triggered by wheat, or wheat makes it alot worse. Seems its gluten I've got to avoid.
I went to a private dietician which was a revelation.
Mines high fodmap foods, mostly fructans and lactose
Hi, For me Gluten and Lactose and oddly any artificial sweetener ending in ol.
Thank you for your reply! I’ve always wondered if I have a problem with gluten but it’s just difficult to figure out
I drink lacto free milk. Foods I can't eat are Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, seeds, nuts, rich fruit cake.
I don't think gluten affects me but then, it's such a complicated and difficult problem to diagnose..who knows!!! All worth a try xx
Yeah it’s really hard to work out the different foods which bring out the symptoms as sometimes it’s due to stress. But I’m definitely willing to give anything a try at this point xx
Gluten clogs me up and lactose gives my IBS D so I can’t have either. Can’t eat onion or garlic now as it gives me indigestion. Also have to avoid beans, lentils etc and some veg and spicy foods and high fat foods effect me as does chocolate. I bought a few low fodmap cookbooks that help. Stress is my biggest issue I think.
IBS is different for everyone. We recommend keeping a 12-week wellness diary recording what you are eating and how you are feeling, which may then help you identify patterns and triggers to your IBS.
