I am interested to know if this has helped with IBS symptoms
Has anyone had any success with Manuka Honey? - IBS Network
Has anyone had any success with Manuka Honey?
I have never had it, I did think about it before I became a Vegan. I have to say though, I feel so much better since seeing a Nutritionist back in July, I'm 100% better.
What made the biggest difference for you please?
After the sensitivity tests the Nutritionist carried out on me she said I had a high sensitivity to gluten, rye, barley, oats and Formalin (a preservative used in some foods) and cow's milk which of course doesn't bother me plus a medium sensitivity to peas.
I cut out gluten back in July and it was tough but I persevered and I did have gluten withdrawal.
I'm a member of the IBS Network and they said some people with IBS can tolerate Spelt flour sourdough bread. With that in mind I started to eat sourdough and I can tolerate it. It's the Fructans in gluten that quite a few IBS sufferers can't tolerate.
Suffice to say the visit to the Nutritionist was the best thing I ever did.
I've also had a Gut Biome test and would highly recommend that, I used Chuckling Goat.
I hope this helps.
Oh yes, crazyfitness, you were going to make some bread with spelt flour,I’m still waiting to hear if it turned out ok.🤔
You have a very good memory. I was going to report on here how it turned out but unfortunately I couldn't get the starter going. I've figured the reason why and that's because our house was too cool but we have a couple of heaters on now so I'm going to give it another go.
I've made sourdough bread before but that was with wholemeal flour and I had no problem with that but the starter for that one was made using a slightly different method.
Hey when it comes to a possibility of stopping the pain have on a daily basis I never forget. I was tested and I was told I was intolerant to yeast,I’ve tried sourdough, but that contains yeast.😉
What a shame you can't tolerate sourdough. It doesn't contain yeast per se i.e. you don't add any yeast to sourdough, it's the bacteria from the fermentation process that gives it the air bubbles and makes it rise. Fortunately I'm fine with it.
I did try it,and I liked it. But if you say there’s not a great deal of yeast in it,as like in normal bread I’m going to give it another go. I’ll try it for a bit longer and see if the pain at least subsides a bit.
I love sourdough bread. I think it's better if you buy it from an artisan baker where it's made following the correct process. Obviously the best way is to mske it yourself.
Very best of luck.
I wouldn’t try it as on low fod map honey is a no no
No I haven't but would be interested to know if it does Help
