Colitis: Hi ive recent been diagnosed with... - IBS Network
Colitis
The first question that springs to mind is What type of colitis?
Collagenous colitis ibd
I know that this is a type of microscopic colitis, and is very difficult to diagnose. Did you have any specific detail you wanted to know or query? I, personally, suffer with Crohn's disease, but as I was only 11 at diagnosis, and am now 63, I have spent a long time looking at and meeting people with all forms of IBS/IBD.
I was finally diagnosed with microscopic/collagenous colitis 20 years ago. I was treated with Asacol at first, it really didn't help me. After subsequent tests, colonoscopies, etc... all but one from the same gastro practice, I was always told I had IBS, no colitis! Over the years I was treated with countless medications, and I tried so many over-the-counter products, different diets, FODMAP, gluten free, on & on & on, Not to upset you, but it's been a difficult journey and microscopic colitis is so hard to diagnose, AND irritable bowel syndrome is so easy to label when everything else has been ruled out, I think doctors use it as a catch-all diagnosis. Of course everyone is different, and responds to different therapies accordingly. What didn't work for me may work beautifully for you!
I could write a novel bout my journey, but I will just end my post with this...please feel free to contact me here to "chat" more in depth if you want, and here is a great community to join (besides this one! for a wealth of info re: Crohn's, colitis and the like. I sure wish I had found these sites years ago! mycrohnsandcolitisteam.com/...
Best wishes for wellness! )
P.S. Not sure where you are located, I am in the U.S., but these medical issues are the same no matter the geographical location, it's only the healthcare that differs. I say this because I've noticed on here when people realize I am in the states, they sometimes are no longer interested in my posts.
