Any suggestions for a painful rear end?

I go to the loo about 5 times a day - sometimes loose, sometimes firm but I nearly always have to strain. Have tried everything dietwise and drugwise - nothing helps. Consequently I have constant discomfort in my tail end. I`ve tried all the medicines for piles, vaseline, barrier creams etc. GP presribed spheriproct but you can only use it for 7 days without a break and that isn`t long enough to make a lasting difference. I sometimes use wet-wipes rather than toilet paper but find that they irritate the surrounding skin more.

Any ideas?

Have you tried soaking in the tub? That seems to help me quite a bit. Letting things air out, so some baggy pants with no under garments.

Or a sitz bath is quite good.

Try Sudocrem (the one in a grey plastic pot). I have similar issues plus have had radiotherapy in that area which has left me with thin skin. This is the only thing which works for me (after a 5 minute soak in warm water).

I do sometimes use Sudocrem but don`t find it particularly helpful. I think the whole area is so sensitive now that pretty much everything irritates it!

For these difficult times i use a prescription cortisone antifungal cream named ( Lotriderm ) every thing else just make things worse down there and they even sting / burn more if i apply other creams ..this one is a life saver for me ( may be the brand name is different in the UK) ..i apply it with tissue ( i have OCD ..so i don't like to touch this area with bare hands ! ) then massage it and wait 5 minutes for the skin to absorb it .

Regarding the wipes , try using the " Extra Sensitive Baby Jhonson's wipes " these are Not Scented and the only type that doesn't irritate my " IBS corrupted area "😥🔥😳

I find germaloid ointment (not cream) is the only treatment that really helps, wouldn’t be without it.
