You can get a wedge shaped foam pillow to raise the head end of the mattress, by keeping your shoulders & torso higher than your stomach it gives the hernia a chance to heal during the night rather than being further aggravated.

Hi there this must be distressing. Have you been given any medication to take before eating? You could phone your pharmacist, and ask if they can advise something for you to take. If you have not been offered any medication you should go back to your GP - if you were not offered any medication may be go to another doctor.

Did the difficulty in eating start before the hernia was diagnosed? If you have food intolerances you can ask for tests for dairy egg and some others according to your area. I went for a test through Alphega chain of pharmacies which are up and down the country - it did not take long and was a finger prick test applied to smart technology. The results were interpreted by the pharmacist. It is a new test in the UK.

I came up with food intolerances I never realised including dairy egg wheat rye barley maize cornflour banana and rice. I changed my breakfast to eating honey dew melon or water melon for breakfast. I screened out foods such as sausages many of which contain gluten wheat colouring and removed tea with strong tannins and drink weak blackcurrant Ribena instead. It's finding out what is upsetting you which might help.

Drinking hot water first thing in sips slowly first thing in the morning might help.

Hope you find some medication to take before meals to help. Take care.
