I was chatting to a friend of a friend who said her daughter had IBS she's in her 20s was diagnosed about 2 yrs ago. She has put a claim in for disability allowance. As she says its dibilitating and she finds she has to leave her office quite a few times for the toilet. I was wondering if IBS is counted as a disability.

I suffered IBS from about age 21. I finally had to retire when age 50 as it caused me extreme stress and made work impossible. I retired early and also claimed incapacity allowance.

That was 20 years ago, but I cannot see why IBS would not be recognised as an incapacity illness . unless maybe you can work from a toilet !!

Go for it , stress the difficulties it presents . things like travelling and meetings etc .!!

Good luck.

I have seen other responses on here that have said that IBS can be classed as a disability when so severe. As Will has said below, just go for it.
