Has anyone who is doing FODMAPS also tried to ... - IBS Network
Has anyone who is doing FODMAPS also tried to eliminate all grains and also cut down on sugar - and if so - what are you eating????
Hi I am doing all that, I have egg on gluten free bread for breakfast, salad and meat for lunch and meat and veges for dinner. a little camembert cheese as a snack with a little allowable fruit. Lactose free yoghurt also amazing how u adjust, as I said to my mother eat things that are grown in the soil, growing on trees or were walking seems to be the answer. wishing you well.
When I first started I was living on eggs..fried, boiled, omelettes ...you name it!
Now I have vege like spinach, courgettes, red /yellow/orange peppers, green spring onions, potato, sweet potato, flaked buckwheat instead of oats for breakfast, gluten free pasta (rarely), rice, 100% buckwheat noodles, now added fish a bit of chicken.
Oh and I went TOTALLY sugar free for about 6-8 months. Can now have chocolate and strawberries
hard to find 100% buckwheat noodles. Do you have a brand name?
Do you have IBS C or D? I have IBS D and find low FODMAPs binding!
did you do this on your own or on guidance of a nutritionist? I am desperate!
By myself. The dietician I see doesn't know anything about the actual effects of food on the body. I do a lot of research into the different types of diets and the energetics of food like they use in Traditional Chinese Med, ayurveda etc etc so I make sure I eat what my body will like even though I can't 'see' physical negative symptoms. Everything that you eat will have an effect one way or another so its worth doing your own research..no one knows your body like you do.
I make my own bread and make my own sugar free jams. It depends if you count fruit in sugar or not. Alternatively, nut butter works wonders.
Very helpful - food for thought! Sorry for the pun!
Hi there I'm currently grain free, dairy free with very very low sugar in take. I'm only on my second week but it does seem to be helping with bloating and pain. I'm work closely with a Nutritionist and having their knowledge and support really helps. I suppose is mostly like a paleo diet. Thought it would be hard to follow but it's really ok. Wishing you well.
