After-meal painful bloating if severe absolutely saps my will to do anything. Can only sit still or lie down and doze. Anyone else?

I am in the care of a Medical Herbalist (5 years) who keeps me symptom-free most of the time. She is unfamiliar with this psychological phenomenon of IBS. But I can't be that unique. Have any fellow-sufferers overcome this?

I usually get bloating in the evening whilst I don't 'swell up' hugely it feels as if I have a brick in my abdomen and finding a comfortable position is difficult. I find that I am going to bed earlier and earlier because I get so fed up I can do this as I live alone but would not be easy in a family situationl. It makes me very depressed and is for me at least as bad as the pain I get sometimes. I have found that sometimes lying on my left hand side and going into the foetal position can help push out the wind doesn't always work but worth a try. I have also read that bloating can be caused by anxiety ( is this a problem for you it is for me) or exacerbated by it and deep breathing can help to a degree. All very trial and error. Good Luck.

Yes I have been like this. The intense pain zaps my energy to do anything..even talking!

I have recently been seeing a five element acupuncturist for the last 2 months and have noticed an improvement in this.

After 5 years I would think you would be totally sorted?
