Help Coping with No Longer Being Able to Work caused by Frontal Lobe Damage resulting from Radiotherapy Treatment
I am one of the fortunate ones who was diagnosed back in 2012 when I was roughly 48 years old with an AO3. I say fortunate because I had an insurance policy taken out for that very purpose, which affords me the same level of income I had before.
I’m unaware of your financial situation but if you have a mortgage make sure you contact the provider to see if you can get it paid off. There’s also plenty of financial help from the UK government in relation to ESA, transportation (free bus passes) and a whole lot more - PIP is another you can apply for but you HAVE to lay it on thickly - they say ‘think of the WORST day imaginable’ and that’s exactly what you do when answering.
When I was first diagnosed they diagnosed it as a GBM4 for which there is, like AO3, terminal and no cure, but the life expectancy is much, much shorter, you do, however, get PIP at the higher rate automatically, as long as you apply for it, so you can get such things as a Motability car and other benefits besides.
Scottie, I know that this is a lot to take in, seeing as you are newly diagnosed, but stick with it please and you will find a whole world open up that you never knew existed.
Good luck, Stu
Sorry I obviously didn't make it clear I was diagnosed back in 2003 so not newly diagnosed.
Already on PIP and Universal Credit, it's not the financial side am struggling with it's fact have gone back to no longer being able to work due to the damage in my Left Frontal Lobe caused by Late Radiotherapy Damage and made worse after catching COVID in 2020.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
