Hi jackjak TB symptoms can vary so much, and it depends on your overall health, it can range from a couple of weeks to several weeks, but the main thing here is that you remain positive and put your trust into your health team. Fatigue is another big one and can last for months. Everyone has a different story to tell about their symptoms and treatments, so don’t feel despondent and manage each day as it comes. X
Hi JackJak,
Most people begin to feel better in the first couple of weeks - though it can be a long time before you feel totally better. You will get there though, one day at a time. Think of ways you can stay motivated - a treatment diary or calendar, saving towards an end of TB treatment holiday, asking friends to help. As hotchoc said, a positive attitude will help. As will the support of friends, family and the people on this forum.
Wishing you every success with your treatment,
Helen
It may take 3-4 weeks for those symptoms to subside. I can tell you that I coughed up blood a month after I started treatment, but just that one time after starting. Everyone truly is different. Give yourself grace. REST your body. Be super conscious of what you are able to put in your body and be sure whatever it is will fuel you. Watch your weight and try HARD not to lose too much. As my infectious disease doctor said to me “TB loves a skinny body”.
