Coughing up blood during tb treatment
Yaa it is normal. Don't worry, people do cough blood after 1 year treatment too. It is completely normal
Hello Bobotkaho - I was ok until day 15 of my TB meds then I started coughing blood. My consultant said as long it wasn’t a lot, then it is kind of normal. I hope this helps alleviate some of your worries.
Tanks hottchoc,,but do you know when will it stop
Hello - no sorry there is no answer to that. We are all individual including how much damage each of us had. Following TB there is so much damage and inflammation going on - mine went on for about two weeks, coughing blood, it wasn’t loads, I would say about a teaspoon. Best wishes to you.
Tanks hottchoc..now i can sleep more comfortable..tnks for the relief,,best wishes to you also
If you start coughing a lot of blood say half a cup full, get immediate advice. Hope you feel better soon x
Before i start the treatment i was coughing up a lot of blood..but it was stop by the doctors with antibiotics to get me some sputum sample,,now it came back but in smaller amount of blood..hope it will be gone soon
Hi Bobotkaho,
I hope this issue has subsided as the TB medication starts to work, the medication should be taking effect well by now.
It is worth discussing with your TB doctor or nurse either way. If the issue gets worse contact a doctor asap.
Best wishes,
Helen
