Has anyone recovered from anorexia on their own meaning at home without going inpatient or without seeing a dietitian?

I was hoping somebody here has recovered from anorexia and done it on their own without having been in a treatment center or having a nutritionist tell them how to gain weight. I was severely underweight a few years ago and I gained the weight on my own without any nutritionist and I did wonderfully and I want to get back to that point but I wanted to know if anyone else here has had this experience and if it went well for them?

Yes. Through a church at the time and someone who was a counsellor there but we didn't call our talks 'counselling'. I took drinl supplements, complan.

Oh good that makes me feel better. I hope you are still doing well. Well that's encouraging to hear that you didn't have to go to a treatment center as all the times that I've ever gotten better and sustained it for any amount of time it was always on my own-just eating what I wanted to and just with the help of family and friends. It was not when I was ever going to a therapist or any sort of inpatient treatment program.

OK. I think actually I could have benefited from more help in that area. I still have some struggles with eating in various ways. I have had various sorts of counselling for depression etc. Are you anorexic now may I ask? I wish you all the best.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that you're still struggling. With what? Are you at a healthy weight now? And are you having periods and producing hormones and stuff? I have had anorexia for 27 years and I am now 39 years old. Currently I am underweight and am wanting to get better but really afraid of getting back to a healthy weight for one because I don't know what wait to get to because I'm 5'1 in and nobody has ever told me??? Counseling has never done me any good and like I said treatment programs have never done me any good so I'm looking to do this on my own but the problem is I can never get my mind to change no matter what weight I'm at so that's what's frustrating and now I'm struggling with hot flashes due to having no estrogen production because of the anorexia not producing the estrogen so that's my motivation right now to try to get my weight back to normal it's just so that I can get my hormones to turn back on.
