Increasing numbers

So I’ve been starting recovery for about 3 weeks now but in the space of 6 days I have gained 3kg, is this is my actually weight gain or will it be things like water weight and and all that due to me not looking any different and it being such a short amount of time. If it is water weight and things like that does that mean the number may go back down at my next weigh in, has any one had this experience and can offer advice x

Hi Paige1010

with a 3kg weight gain in 6 days I would bet my life savings that 99% of this will be Water weight as your body can store Water very easily inside all your cells unlike food which it can only store in certain places.

I have included a link to a blog that I found really helpful during recovery and lays things out really scientifically.

From personal experience I can say it’s 100% normal, I gained a large amount of water weight in the first few weeks and my body held on to it, until it got used to me nourishing it. It’s not comfortable and it makes the ED voIce come through quite strongly but it goes go away as you start to eat more and continue to eat more all the initial symptoms will dissipate.

The thing to remember is that your body is in a state of shock as it’s been so used to being malnoishied it’s going to take time for it to start functioning at full capacity again.

Keep the faith and the belief in yourself & your recovery and you’ll make it through x x

I agree it's mainly water gain, tied up with glycogen storage. Don't fixate on the weight alone, what about strength, energy for conversation, concentration, immune strength ? So many precious things hang on having adequate nutrition.
