Hi, I'm new here and I was discharged from inpatients at the end of May this year and I'm struggling at the moment and my therapist has referred me back for an assessment for inpatients. Is there a certain bmi to be an inpatient? Last time I was a lot lower.

Hi there, I think it can depend where you live what their protocol is for inpatient bmi. If you have already had an admission could be different though as it was for me, classed as top up treatment so bmi wasn’t really the priority. It’s great your admitting your struggling and need extra support right now so hope you get it.

BMI isn't necessarily the critical factor - and if you are struggling maybe a short in-patient "top up" can get you back on track. Good luck - do so hope that you can take positive steps again towards a permanent recovery.

I have to go in as they are worried about refeeding syndrome but I have to wait for a bed. Thank you for your replies

I know it’s not ideal having to go back in to hospital, but if that’s what it takes to help you get back on track it will be worth it. I’m sort of where you are, I was in hospital too earlier this year and made good progress but I’m really struggling just now can’t seem to find the strength to push through it. Hope you don’t have to wait too long for a bed, good luck hope you get the support you need.
