HUSBAND RUSHED INTO HOSPITAL
As you all know my husband suffers from COPD and Bronchiectasis. Last year he was in hospital numerous times with pneumonia then in February of this year he was given Zithromax, (Azithromycin) three days a week for anti-inflammatory purposes and never had an infection until it all kicked off yesterday

Newly Diagnosed Daughter
I newly registered on Asthma UK website today as my 5yr old daughter Natalie had an asthma attack on Friday 24/5/13. She has suffered with chest/breathing problems for a while and I have made suggestions to the GP for several months that she is showing signs of asthma symptoms. She has always been diagnosed

Salbutamol and blood sugar levels
I've just found out (googled a hunch) that high-ish doses of salbutamol and salmeterol can raise blood sugar. This happens through the same mechanism that lowers potassium, and as I regularly get low potassium, I'm guessing that I also get the blood-sugar raising effect. On saturday I had lots of acute

Docs seem to be anti-nebuliser
Really dont understand this sometimes.... Yes, I can see how it makes people think they are better than they are because the neb is masking the symptons but they seem to assume everyone is stupid. Must admit, based on how appalling our local hospital, going in to A&E just to get a nebuliser is never

Dealing with Multiple Doctors
Last week I had a severe flare that put me in the hospital. In the afterrmath both my pulmonologist and the hospital wanted me to go down to 30mg after leaving the hospital and then do a fast taper (5mg/week). My GP's recommendation was to stay at 40mg, make sure things were stable, and then

I'm Back
I've finally come back to AUK after a really long break and a chance to kind of find myself after everything. Its been a really interesting 2 years and well, I have since been started on home nebs and now have a carer who lives in with me. I missed everyone on here so much and decided that it was time

Alternative Therapies, Gadgets and Gizmos.
I was checking the date of my next massage and reflexology when the question came to me about what really does help us with our breathing/mental problems. I have an air purifier/ioniser, shiatsu heated massager, a flutter, a power breath etc etc. I have monthly massages and have just started reflexology
