Hopeless asthmatic
I have had severe asthma since I was 2 years old. I’ve been struggling with it all of my life and now that I’m 21 it’s still not well controlled. I’ve been hospitalized more times than I can count. Lately, my nebulizer isn’t helping because my biggest issue is the congestion. I can’t sleep, can’t hangout

Just want to have a bit of a moan folks. Felt ok yesterday but since early this morn chest verytight, wheezing coughing , barely able to walk. Nebulizer every few hours and increased steroid intake. Lovely weather out there and people in gardens having barbecues and fun. I'm stuck in doors grrr

Humidity and air purifiers.
Anyone else totally done with this weather? It’s beautiful and all but my goodness does it play havoc with my asthma! Ended up in A&E again yesterday thanks to this stupid humidity! Luckily this time I had paramedics who’d been to me before and know exactly how to treat me. They put me straight into

Nebuliser didn’t work
I recently took my nebuliser to the USA as directed by the consultant and my GP. I took Uk/USA adapters.... both kinds. I found to my horror that it wouldn’t work: at all with the 2 pin one and it only purred quietly with the 3 pin plug. The pharmacy wouldn’t sell me one without a prescription from a

LAM specialist advice
Hello BLF friends, I had a feedback from the lung specialist on continuous chest infections. He said it takes quite a while to get rid of it. He said the rule was prompt antibiotics treatment and bronchial draining with a physiotherapist. He advised on a treatment of Respimer sachets to clean sinuses

In Answer to Your Hoarse Throat Question
I noticed that Symbicort made my voice hoarse. My doctor gave me a plastic extender for the inhaler and when I use that it helps this problem. I don't know if other inhaled medications cause this and I am trying to find out if it is safe to use my albuterol nebulizer while I have laryngitis?

So I FINALLY have the ok to start xolair and should be starting it on the 23rd! Woooooo! I’ll have to have injections every 2 weeks but compared to hospital every month I’m more than willing to go along with that if it helps! But it definitely couldn’t come soon enough, have been feeling rough for a

Saved by a tiny wheeze
Last night I had an asthma attack and was taken to hospital by ambulance, when the paramedics arrived they said my chest was clear so no meds. In the ambulance they said my pulse was to fast (150) for nebs so they just have me oxygen, even though I was coughing and short of breath. When we arrived at

2 year old with pneumonia and potentially asthma?
Hi, I'm new here and a mummy to a two-year-old girl who has just been discharged from hdu following a very severe episode - high work of breathing that didn't respond to salbutamol nebs or oxygen on the mask. In the end she turned around slowly with the help of airvo and magnesium sulphate. She was diagnosed

Dx 4 yrs ago w/asthma, exacerbations last weeks
Hi there! I hope you don't mind, I'd like to share a little history. I'm a 45 yr old ex-smoker for 6 years. In retrospect, during childhood, I've never had great lung capacity; not sure if that's a direct result of being raised suffocating in second-hand smoke. I've always been active, but with difficulty

Too much medicine?
I have been taking singular, symbicort, xyzal, pro air and allergy injections for my allergies and asthma for several years. I am for the most part pretty well controlled. I have been in a flare-up or something for about two weeks now tho. In addition to these meds, I have had to use my nebulizer

Newbie. Hi everyone. Any help advice for any extra treatments appreciated. Xx
I was diagnosed with COPD after a bronchoscopy a few years ago. I gave up smoking five years ago as my asthma was getting bad. Have a nebulising machine with Ventolin and saline to get the horrid mucus up. Been put on different sprays and higher saline that is strong and really makes you cough your lungs

Another quick question:
Anyone know how many puffs of salbutamol you take when using the inhaler with a spacer? I haven't thought the inhaler was working for me for ages and have been using a nebuliser for delivery but my respiratory nurse is encouraging me to try again and not use the nebuliser as apparently the receptors
