Being referred to Preston?
I'm allergic to
theophylline
too... Thanks in advance, getting really fed up of asthma lately! PEF is 50% at best now and I haven't slept in weeks...whatever they suggest I'll gladly do for a good night sleep and to be able to go more than a week being ""well"" Jo

Asthma and the Menopause plus theophyllines
Hormones can affect asthma etc and menopause can cause some cardiac issues etc I currently take 200mg of Uniphylline (
Theophylline
) twice a day, among a load of other meds such as permanently on Pred (oral steroids) I was on 300mg of Uniphylline but reduced it around October time because of mid afternoon

Stat dose of uniphylline after IV
Came off IV aminophylline yesterday and there was a bit of a cock up with my drugs, I kept saying - especially when I was reviewed in the night as became ill again that it was probably due to my
theophylline
levels dropping.

Horrible resus nurses!
in resus~ I was completely awful, was assessed by anaethesists regarding intubation, in the end I needed a bipap (a lot of improvement now though and I'm already back on just lots of oxygen and back to back nebs) So I was lying there with a potassium drip, a magnesium drip, an antibiotic drop and a

How to approach GP
Theophylline
has been mentioned by a cons and my GP in the past but my last cons was reluctant to prescribe it because of the side effects. Xolair has also been mentioned by I have a very high IgE and anaphylaxis.

Two steps forward and one back
Today I received the letter from the hospital which should have given my GP a list of things to try (Flixotide for extra ICS during exacerbations, Intal, possible referral to immunologists for desensitisation but my history of anaphylaxis may prevent this or consider
Theophylline
which has constantly

UNIPHYLLIN (THEOPHYLLINE)
I would to hear from anyone who has been taking this drug for some time but who hasn't had the regular blood tests you are supposed to have to monitor the levels of
theophylline
in your body.

Aminophylline or Theophylline? Anyone know about half-lifes and / or how long one has to be off the drug before effective anti-biotic works?
When taking antibiotics I have to stop the Aminophylline /
Theophylline
as they mess up the absorption / effectiveness of the antibiotics. Both my wife and I remember being told that the Aminophylline clears the system quicker but cannot remember who / where we got the information.

Uniphyllin/Theophylline
Just wondering what other peoples experiences are with
theophylline
. I've learnt so much from you lovely people, but a little more would really help me. How quickly did it have a positive effect (once you reached a theraputic dose)? Did things keep improving for a while after this?

Not quite the recovery I'd have expected
From the 15th November GP changed me to Symbicort 400/12 (2 puffs twice a day)plus
Theophylline
. Chest no better so GP started Doxycyline this week. Peak flow improved on steroids but has dropped now they are finished. Currently anywhere from 280-350.

Starting Theopylline; feel rubbish
I guess that could be a combination of Amoxycillin, starting
Theophylline
, Montelukast, being unwell plus all the Salbutamol I've had.

Doubled Seretide 500/50 and Uniphylline
He said that in 4 weeks he's probably expecting to keep the seretide as it is now and maybe add uniphylline/
theophylline
. I have a few questions, as I'm a bit confused about some things and just curious about others.

Switching inhalers instead of adding things - wondering about options
I stupidly forgot to ask (I never think of these things till later) but I guess I'm wondering whether there's anything else I should at least be asking about, because Xolair seems like it would be a long shot getting funding etc. eg other non-steroid things (
