New to Asthma and very scared
I've tried Ventolin with Clenil Modulite, but that seemed to have minimal effect so now I'm on
Symbicort
100/6, which seems to help reduce my shortness of breath through the long acting bronchodilator, but the steroid seems to have had a minimal impact so far, though it's only been 2 weeks.

Dr changed my Medication to Fostair 100/6
The antibiotics helped with the increased doseage of Ventolin 5 puffs 4 times a day plus
Symbicort
2 puffs morning and evening but I'd still not recovered properly and found walking upstairs made me really breathless.

Delayed action or change of inhaler?
I'm breathing much better since having my Seretide inhaler changed to
Symbicort
but I don't seem able to get back to how I was. I get tired so very easily now and whereas in previous years I would have been away in the camper a number of times, I have lost my enthusiasm.

Different Med
For years I was on
Symbicort
which my chemist told me was the Rolls Royce in terms of inhalers for COPD treatment.

Symbicort 200/6 SMART
Have just this morning been put on
Symbicort
SMART regime at my first respiratory consultant appointment. I have been struggling with control/persistent chest infections for a number of months now and was on maximum dose of Flutiform which my GP was able to prescribe as well as Montelukast.

Antibiotics Prescribed plus increase in medication
I'm to also continue with
symbicort
- 2 puffs morning and night. She's prescribed some more Prednisolone to keep in reserve if needed. As I'm bringing up (sorry folks!) some yellow phlegm I really just want to get started on the antibiotics.

Poor peak flows
I had already had my usual preventer -
symbicort
200 and a course of 40mgs pred over 5 days. I was discharged on another 5 day course of pred and still had peak flows, at this point of 200 to 250. Back to the docs, one who dismissed the low peak flow as 'not a problem'.

Increase in severity of asthma
He prescribed a new inhaler Fostair 200/6 instead of
Symbicort
200 which has always suited me really well. He said I most probably had pneumonia but it was too late to treat now. He ordered bloods to be taken and a CT scan which I had two days ago but don't know the results.

Not sure what to do???
Also I have been using
symbicort
2 puffs twice a day... yesterday and today. Besides that, maybe once or twice a week.

DIFFERENT INHALER IS SO GOOD
I used
Symbicort
for years and it got to the point where it didn't seem to be having any benefit. Going upstairs always left me with a lengthy pause to recover. So last week at the GP's I managed to get it changed to Fostair.

Symbicort PMI v turbohaler
Hi, I have just had my
symbicort
dose increased so changed from 100 to 200 inhaler. The asthma nurse prescribed, I think by mistake, a pressured meter inhaler (PMI) instead of the turbohaler I am used to.

What to expect?
On Monday they have given me
Symbicort
, Ventolin, Beconase nasal spray, antihistamine tablet and Montelukast. I feel a bit more stable and coughing is less but still have poor peak flow and a strange dry lung feeling. Anything over a walking speed makes me breathless. Stairs are a no no!

Is asthma a disability
I was changed from Seretide to
Symbicort
400 in June and tried on Montelukast tablets, even though I was given them when first diagnosed and they didn't help. I ended up in hospital in December, having had a "severe asthma attack".

Help please
I am taking montelukast, Spiriva and
Symbicort
smart but the symptoms don't seem to be relieving. Prior to this I had no problems at all with my chest but six years ago I got a chest infection which went on to pneumonia and then pleurisy and that seems to have been what has triggered everything.

Does it ever get better?
Flovent,
symbicort
and alvesco and ventolin seems to not help that much.my questions are - has anyone struggled a long time to then finally get relief with the right medicine? I am losing hope. Also because I constantly struggle to get the breath I find it impossible not to get anxious.
