Experience of Parkinsons in a 77 year old ?
We have managed to contact our local Parkinsons nurse and he was prescribed
Sinemet
- but that just seems to make him even more tired and confused. We are shocked at his decline, he has very little muscle strength left and needs assistance with the smallest task or decision.

Hello from a new boy
I put that down to seeing a marvellous Neuorlogist in Cambridge (not my home town) who recommended Azilect as an adddition to my
Sinemet
Plus and Amantadine and to change my Ropinirole to Requip XL.

How do you kick start effectively in the morning?
- Standard -
Sinemet
- 12.5mg/50mg. Tablet form. -
Sinemet
/Caramet CR, 25mg/100mg - slow release. Table form I have no information on how long these meds take to start working in the body, when they peak and when they start to wear off to use effectively.

Husband saw new Movement Disorder Specialist who increased his Sinemet which has helped his walking.
It takes almost an hour for the
Sinemet
to kick in. We see dr. again in 6 weeks.

My question is below.
I've been thinking about starting
Sinemet
, but I'm really weary about the side effects. I know there is a possibility of dyskinesia, but what other side effects are there? How long before you start having side effects.

Have you developed dyskenesia and, if so, how troublesome and/or noticeable is it?
Have any of you been on
sinemet
for many years without developing dyskenesia? Those of you that have it, is it periodic depending on your meds, or is it continual? Does it inhibit you socially and how do you deal with it?

Has anyone experienced changes io their body odour?
Then, when I started
sinemet
, my body odour returned to normal! One of the more trivial changes with PD, but i should be interested to know if anyone has had a similar experience.

My husband and RLS - I just wanted to share
I have never seen this in him so bad as he regularly takes
Sinemet
and things are so much better for him. The funny thing is he is a long distance LGV driver and can manage driving for long hours without any symptoms.

I don't have a tremor. My symptoms are all movement related and I have
I was on
Sinemet
25/100 (1 1/2 tabs 4 x day). At my last visit I told my specialist that I didn't think the meds worked as I never have on/off times. I saw my specialist on Tuesday after being off my meds for 48 hrs. He is now not sure if I have Parkinsons or Parkinsonism. His plan an MRI.

What is the maximum amount of sinemet daily?
It seems that
Sinemet
is not working. I get about 3 hrs on and the rest of the day off. I take a 50/200 @ bed and one during the nite. 2ea 25/100 when I get up and every 2 to 3 hrs during the day. What can I take to help extend on time.

Self managing PD - Are we serious or not?
People take them with tea/coffee/milk/alcohol instead of water (
sinemet
does work well with fizzy drinks) In particular
sinemet
needs to be adjusted to suit the individual.

I'm on Sinemet 25/100 (1 1/2 tablet) 4 times a day. I can honestly say it doesn't seem like my symptoms ever change, I don't feel like I
I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in July 2010 and initially started on Mirapex (2 months) and then switched to
Sinemet
. Has anyone else had a similiar experience?

Sinemet best practice - take a tablet when you feel you need it or stick to 3 times a day and be uncomfortable.
I cannot stick to 1 tablet of
Sinemet
, 62.5mg 3 times a day as directed by my PD Nurse as I definitely need one every 4 hours or I wear off and have very uncomfortable, painful restless leg syndrome.

Boost Sinemet with Madopar Dispersible YES OR NO?
"if you need to take an extra
sinemet
thats ok, it may differ from day to day. Use the dispersible as required, just keep to a minimum, but if you need them, you need to take them". What does my PD Nurse mean by the above in quotations? not to boost the Sinement with Madopar Dispersible?

Does anyone know how my mum can stabilise after going into freefall?
She was switched to
Sinemet
but the diarrohea has persisted so she's now off that too and on rasagiline only. A stool sample and bowel cancer test have come back as normal so I think maybe levodopar is causing the diarrohea.

Pramipexole
The idea of increasing the mirapexin was to reduce the
sinemet
I am currently taking. A great idea but just far too quickly. I, having discussed this with my GP, am going back to basics i.e. 0.088mg which I started on.
