bradykinesia?
Has your medication helped with general slowness? I noticed a slowness in moving (I believe that is bradykinesia?) before I was diagnosed. Now that I'm taking Sinemet it seems to have improved greatly. Sometimes I think my mind (not my brain) is fooling me into believing what I want to believe.

Comtan increasing off times
Just started taking Comtan (along with usual sinemet) and find my off-times are drastically increased so that there's very little on-time. Didn't expect Comtan to have the opposite effect of what it's supposed to do. Also more foot dystonia (cramping) forcing me to walk on the outside edge--OUCH. And

Advanced Parkinsons treatment
I have had pd for at at least twenty years. After dx I had been put on Cabaser by a neurologist who then retired and my gp informed me that there were insufficient funds to replace him. He would just keep prescribing this med. and I would just continue without a Neuro. Cabaser turned out to be particularly

I just joined this forum after seeing my mom struggle so much with her PD. Over the years have introduced mucana , a few supplements , exercise etc , but a recent fall has really pushed her back where she is tired, sleepy and can barely walk (she was only walking with the helper before also) . Wish

What helps reduce Dyskinesia .
We are giving her sinemet , amantadine, Mirapex etc. Over the years we have reduced the amount of sinemet (I think she was overdrugged in the beginning - and we couldn't tell as her tolerance to meds was good ) . Now 1/4 sinemet every 2 hours , to try and follow the less meds at more frequent interval

Hallucinations and PD or Hallucinations and Meds
I need to know if anyone who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's had hallucinations prior to the diagnosis. I know that sinemet and probably other meds for PD can cause hallucinations. As well, I believe the disease itself can manifest with hallucinations. If anyone has had experience with any of this

Is rytary the same as madopar CR?
I have just had a terrible weekend due to a hopelessly ill-informed non-specialist GP (substituting for the consultant neurologist at an outpatient appt) telling me to change my 3 hourly 125 madopar to 125 madopar CR (slow release) plus 62.5 capsule. Within 24 hours I had completely lost the plot.

I started using this new drug recently. It is awesome! It extends the life of sinemet and totally knocks out any dyskinesias. It is a miracle and I hope all who are suffering with PD get some. I got it from gold pharma and yes they will ship to USA.

Protein Update
This is an update to my previous post about protein and PD meds. I am a 68 year old female diagnosed in 2002. I take 1 Sinemet 5X daily and 2 Rytary 3X daily. For the past four years, I have been struggling with what I thought were blood sugar issues, in that I would battle fatigue throughout the

Struggling
I'm Beckie, I don't have Parkinsons but had a stroke and when I came out of my coma, I couldn't walk but have had lots of therapy, but still have the Parkinson stutter. I'm on a lot of Sinemet several times a day. Can any one tell me if Sinemet works for them?

Parkinson's or Parkinsonism
I have had typical PD symptoms for about 2 years (balance, tremors, gait, etc.). My third Neuro insisted that my medications could be causing my symptoms and that therefore I may have Parkinsonism which causes identical symptoms as PD but are a result of other factors. In my case he believed my symptoms

I am a 68-year old woman diagnosed in 2002. My symptoms are mainly difficulty in small-motor movements and freezing. I have been on Sinemet for the entire 14 years and it worked well, except for the past four years I have also had what felt like low blood sugar issues. My medications didn't seem to

Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and Sinemet interaction
Awhile ago I listed the things I take and how when I stopped benadryl for awhile I could sure tell the difference in a bad way. Then I restarted the 1/2 doses of benadryl. Sinemet works so much better with a little bit (half a tab) of Benadryl. However, I was just using the drug interaction tool at medscape

Blurred vision
Hi.. I am 62 and was diagnosed 4 years ago with fine tremors on left side, stiffness and slowness to the point of almost a full stop. So now it's 4 years later and I've had to quit work a job I felt very passionate about. I'm driving very little now only short distances and when I feel I'm on my meds

My new Neurologist says try Azilect. I'm doing fine...but
So, now I've started being monitored by a renowned movement disorder doctor and he says I should switch from Sinemet to Rytary for longer periods of control. But first I have to take Azilect for a few weeks. I told them I was also using MP and other supplements and the Sinemet works better with them

Was this patient's long history of meditation a factor in the remission of his PD?
This morning while browsing through my daily Google alert on news about Parkinson's disease, I came across this reference: "A potential case of remission of Parkinson's disease " That of course grabbed my attention. I clicked on the link and found it referred to a PubMed report on the case
