Sudden change after years of controlled asthma
I suddenly felt my breathing was laboured, chest was tight, I was coughing and wheezing more and having to use my
salbutamol
regularly. Also after being able to run 6 miles I could only run 1 until I had a full on attack where my
salbutamol
was ineffective.

Viral-induced asthma diagnosis
I visited the docs today and she says that the virus has aggravated my asthma symptoms and has given me a
salbutamol
reliever. I had a peak flow of about 340. My question is two fold really.

Good control and inevitable suggestion of lower dose
(and montelukast too) I also have oxis as and when I need it so I'm no longer on
salbutamol
. I was meant to meet my consultant this week but this has been moved to September which is fine by me as I have had good control since around December.

How to know if I need steroids?
I take
salbutamol
and seretide inhalers. I have upped my seretide as directed by my resp. consultant and I'm taking my
salbutamol
3-4 times a
day
, for a few hours afterwards, my chest feels better but once it has worn off, it feels worse than it started.

COPD?? Pulmonary Fibrosis?? Wegener's?? What the 'ell??? Can anyone help?
Just been to see consultant for the second time (diagnosed 3 months ago with possible COPD). 60% FEV1/FVC but really struggling, particularly with chest discomfort and mild breathlessness - nothing seems to help - put on Spiriva, Fostair and Seretide 125 and
Salbutamol

whooping cough??
I went to the asthma clinic where the respiratory consultant told me that due to the ""sudden onset"" of my bad asthma, the fact that I cough sometimes (at night, when I do peak flow) and that I wasn't responding well to the steroids (
salbutamol
works perfectly fine) that I don't have asthma (or at least

Pregnancy (not yet but planning)
I am on high dose Symbicort,
Salbutamol
and montelukast. I have stopped the montelukast in the last few weeks just to see how I am, although it's hard to tell whether I'm a bit more wheezy because of stopping it or because of the pollen and humidity.

Chest tightness and shortness of breath with normal MRI
I happened to have a check-up scheduled at my local medical centre, during which the asthma nurse said my peak flow was a bit low (I'm 31 yrs old and hit 550), so she told me to take a blue
salbutamol
inhaler I did this only sporadically to begin with, but then found I was using it 4/5 times a day, sometimes

Ventolin
Does anyone else find that ventolin-
salbutamol
does not relive the symptoms at all? It used to work for me but for over the last couple of years it doesn't do a thing. Has anyone tried any other inhaler that works? Thanks
