Atrovent experiences?
My son Leo, as some of you will know, has a rough time of it with asthma attacks and is on Seretide 125 in the mornings, Seretide 50 in the evenings, prednisolone more often than not and of course
salbutamol
(no longer on Singulair as this is more for allergic asthma and his triggers are viral and weather

To repeat myself....I have been on atrovent and salbutamol for 2 years, but 6 months ago It was said I needed something extra........I have
used Seritide, Symbicort, Oxis and Qvar for a month at a time with no added help. I have now been prescribed ....Fostair as a last resort before I am sent to a consultant. Does anyone have any experience of Fostair?

I use a nebulizer for an albuterol solution. Can I use it for a saline solution as I have read about on this site?
Do you need a prescription for the saline solution or can you make it yourself. If so, how? I always carefully clean the nebulizer device (except for the tube) so there is no problem with contamination. I have a salt pipe but have not used it recently.

Running with chest infection/asthma
Having finally got to an NHS Respiratory Clinic I now have a
salbutamol
inhaler and my peak flow had settled at 350 and I have been running and doing fine. Last week I started getting a cold which seemed to immediately go to my chest.

?Asthma ? Chest infection ? Vocal cord problem
Doctor gave me a
salbutamol
neb which had a good effect, voice returned to normal and breathing improved. He felt I needed referral to ENT and that the problem wasn't my asthma. Maybe something like laryngeal spasm or vocal cords.

'Tapping chest'
I thought maybe it was palpitations at first but the cons said that the
salbutamol
wouldn't ease this, instead it would exaggerate it. Maddie definately is relieved by inhalers when the tapping happens. Anyone??

What do you do when you start getting a cold?
Would anyone increase their steroid inhaler and
salbutamol
just to prevent the cold moving into their chest and getting really sick? I can't risk getting sick and being off work again when I've only been back just over a week!

Has anybody else been given Vertine instead of Serevent?
Some time ago, my pharmacy replaced Salamol with a cheap substitute "
Salbutamol
" by Sandoz which was utterly and totally useless. When I phoned the surgery they said 'Oh yes - we've had a lot of patients tell us about this' and I got my old inhaler back.

Shallow breathing
Unfortunately I don't have
salbutamol
with me at the moment to see if that helps- I'm home from uni until tomorrow and the inhaler I brought won't work, which is annoyong since it's brand new, even rinsing nd changing the case didn't help.

Ongoing asthma
I'm on seretide 250 twice daily and take
salbutamol
3 times (2 puffs each time) and atrovent 1-2 a day. I've also had 3 courses of steroids and 3 courses of antibiotics for infections since august.
