How do you know if a salbutamol mdi is empty?
Hi, I'm a childrens community nurse who is the lead for asthma. One problem I'm facing is parents using empty mdi canisters and being unsure of when they are empty. Some parents have been told to 'drop their canisters in water', after researching this it appears this is very old fashioned advice. Does

Terrible cough
Just wondered how much exercise effected others. I've been playing 5 a side tonight and really worked hard but within 10 minutes of finishing I've had a terrible wheezy cough that has nearly made me sick. Had several puffs of salbutamol which did help the wheeze but now I'm left with a bad cough. Anyone

Potassium levels
Hello, I have been salbutamol nebs for about 3 years now. Every time I end up in hospital my potassium levels are an issue. I have had to have central lines before so I can have IV potassium running at large volumes and even with that they force me to take it orally. I have not been to A&E since March

when to get help?
When do you get help with your asthma? I usually get help when there's been a big drop in my PF. PF currently at 75-80% of best, salbutamol is picking it up by about 40 after multidosing, but staying the same for a good few hours afterwards. I'm tight, got quite a bit of pain, SOB and wheezing a bit

cons. appointment.
I'm sorry for another thread, and I'm sorry if its confusing at all. when I've been in hospital and I haven't had much of a response from salbutamol nebs. bricanyl nebs have been used instead and I've responded well to them. I prefer those ones to salbutamol, as I seem to have less side effects.

ICS help
Hi all I'm new to asthma, currently doing my online diploma. The last section we covered was patients who might attend due to worsening symptoms with URTI etc. I understand how you temporarily increase beclometasone etc, but how does this work with combination inhalers where you would also be increasing

Chest is rubbish!
Hi all. I am on 40mg of Pred, Theo, Simbicort 400mg, Montelukast, Nebbed Atrovent and Salbutamol, I have recently had 3 admissions to ITU. The middle one I was Intubated and out for 4 days. I caught Pneumonia then. Then I was sent home from the resp ward and was back on ITU after only 5 days at home.

Oops
I'm currently dealing with 'salbutamol shakes' and slightly dodgy breathing. I've been to my running club tonight but possibly shouldn't have done :-( Maybe i wasn't fully recovered from Sunday's 10k reindeer run even though i *thought* i was. You can choose to run any distance from 2-5 miles and

Salbutimol making me cough
Hi all and Happy New Year. I suffer from brittle/serve asthma and have always used salbutamol as my rescue medication. After my worst and most recent attack I have found it sets me of coughing. This is a problem as it does nothing to help my asthma, and often makes my chest tighter. I have salbutamol

First Visit to the respiratory Lab
Just returned from my first visit to the Respiratory Lab having only been diagnosed with ""Probable Asthma"" after a rush to A & E by ambulance and being kept in for a week. As Ive mentioned elsewhere is was all a bit of a shock at 57. Anyway tests done and the worse bit I think was no meds since last
