ICS help

Hi all

I'm new to asthma, currently doing my online diploma. The last section we covered was patients who might attend due to worsening symptoms with URTI etc. I understand how you temporarily increase beclometasone etc, but how does this work with combination inhalers where you would also be increasing the dose of LABA?

from personal experience, when i was on combination inh before and told to increase due to urti

i followed SMART regime for the Symbicort inhaler which is LABA formoterol and budesonide steroid only the 200/6 strength though.

e.g. normally would take 2 puffs BD but when had urti told could increase to TDS or QDS etc max 12 puffs in 24hrs

this way ur increasing the steroid intake and LABA until symptoms improve, then can reduce back to norm BD dosing.
