Hi, my first post and apologies for the essay but I really need some help. I've been on prednisolone of varying doses for 2 years and am now desperate to get off it. I'm already on 1mg/2ml pulmicort, salbutamol, atrovent nebules and singulair tablets. Does anyone know how long it takes for all your

Can't get used to new preventer after being switched off Becloforte
I had my six monthly checkup with my asthma nurse three weeks ago. I was stunned to hear that Becloforte (and Becotide) are being discontinued although I know this is old news here! My asthma is usually pretty well controlled with quite high doses of Beclomethasone, and I have had no problems in the

Salbutamol?
Why do different companies which make relievers taste different? I've had salamol and ventolin salbutamol which taste completely different, it's the same drug isn't it? (salamol was much nicer :P)

Ashtma night cough - not really anyother symptoms!
Hi, I was diagnosed with asthma in 2002 following several bouts of Bronchitis. My worse symptom has been the night cough. When I was pregnant (end 2004/begining 2005) my asthma improved no end and I went down to 1 puff of my preventor morning and night. Since having my daughter, its got worse and worse

Rant!
On friday, I went to see my local asthma nurse I was having a rough week, i.e. using an entire Ventolin MDI in a week, not good :( Anywho, she listened to my chest, heard no wheezing (probs due to me emptying half an inhaler down my throat that morning!) said I was fine and told me to stop panicking

Bricanyl inhalers
Hi I've just been to the chemist to collect my repeat prescription and have been told that Bricanyl inhalers have been discontinued. I find they work better than Salbutamol inhalers - does anyone know of an alternative? Thanks Sarah

Sleep disturbances
Since taking Beclometasone dipropionate 200 at the rate of 2 puffs twice a day, I've been waking up at 4 am. Unusual for me as pre inhaler I'd usually sleep right through to 8 am. I'm taking my inhaler at 9 am and 9 pm. Any thoughts?

Synacthen Test and Medication
I'm having a synathen test next week to see what a state the Pred's left my poor body in. I've been told that I mustn't take any meds for at least 48 hours before the test. I queried this with my nurse today because I thought it would just be steroid based meds I couldn't take, but she looked it up

Have I really got asthma?
Have had some strange experiences over the last 7 to 8 weeks but, more severely, over the past couple of weeks only which have been preliminary diagnosed as asthma (first time I've ever been ill in 45 years with something that couldn't be easily cured by OTC remedies bought at the Pharmacy). My first

Is this asthma?
I seem tot be having a rough time and starting to wonder if its my asthma or something else going on. I was dianagnosed with asthma in December 2008 after what appeared to be an asthma attack after months of having similiar eposodes but having a itchy rash. In May 2009 I was diagnosed with VCD. I seem

What is high dose corticosteroid? Also stepping down treatment?
I'm trying to work out what step of the asthma treatment guidelines I'm on. I take symbicort 400/12 2 puffs twice daily, Montelukast and Salbutamol as and when required. What bothers me is that despite being on the above for the last six months, my PF is still not back to my best and I am still more

First Time for everything and Advice please
After having step 3 controlled asthma for around 40 years this week things haver been a bit hairy to say the least. PF dropped from 420 to less than 350 and breathing is like I have run a marathon in four minutes. First ride with a blue light and first trip to A&E in Bury Lancs. Today back to the quacks
