Reoccurring chest infections since 2012- any advice and solutions?
Reoccurring chest infections since 2012- been reading threads on here about this as a lot of people seem to pinpoint their first chest infection in 2012- is this just coincidence or is there a prevalent strain in london at that time? I've had 3-4 chest infections per year since then- had one at Christmas

Meds or not....
Hello! New to the forums but as you all seem so lovely I thought I'd say hi 🙂 I get asthma only usually during the summer with hay fever or in response to paint fumes. The asthma nurse that I see seems to be very knowledgeable but...... She had me on Fostair (2 X twice day), salbutamol (as needed)

I've lost faith in my Nurse Consultant
On Friday I visited my Nurse Consultant who told me that I don't have a chest infection and that I needed to control my asthma; she re-prescribed a Fostair inhaler and put it on my repeats list. She didn't even test my peak flow during this appointment. I explained to her that I'd had a chest infection

Bronchiectasis? Will I get a ct? Any ideas welcome
Hi, I posted what is below on Asthma uk forum and one reply suggested this would be another good place to get info. I am awaiting re-referral to a consultant, but really wondering if I can get them to give me a ct scan to check for bronchiectasis (which my mum had), as my diagnosis is atypical asthma

Newly diagnosed late onset asthma
Hi, I have been diagnosed with asthma following an attack on New Years Day. Not being able to breathe was the most frightening experience. After phoning 111 for advice they sent an ambulance. I was told I had a chest infection. The paramedics were fab doing a nebuliser and arranging antibiotics from

Bronchiectasis?
Hi. I posted on here before about atypical asthma. Sorry for all this detail! I am really hoping someone might read this who has some relevant experience or knowledge to share. I was on Clenil or Fostair (neither seemed enough), and with Montelukast added seemed to get through more colds without developing

Heavy Wheezing and potential Lung Infection - help?
Hi, I'm Jake - and yes, I'm new here! Since the first week of October I began to develop a cough/cold where I'd be coughing up yellow mucus, and blowing it out of my nose. After a few weeks, the colour went and the mucus I was blowing out of my nose was see-through. This turned into a mild "cough",

Humidifier or dehumidifier?
Hi guys- quick question regarding my sons asthma. He has constant recurrent chest infections and asthma flare ups - especially during the winter months. He usually has the salbutamol inhaler for general use and prednislone when his chest is worse. I just can't figure out what triggers it off with him

My son is 6. Suffered with asthma since 10 months. Many admissions to hospital, luckily only once needed iv salbutamol. He is starting to get anxious. A small attack yesterday turned into big thing with panic attack, ambulance called etc. He is too used to going to hospital and now panics if he thinks

ALBUTEROL INHALERS
Has anyone ever experienced or known of anyone who has experienced complaints of ventolin inhaler not working, but states that pro air works? I was told by a pharmacist to compare the list of inactive ingredients. I haven't had a chance to do that yet, just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem

Recently Diagnosed at 46
I am a 46 year old male and recently been diagnosed with asthma! I have always been an active and sports orientated individual. As a youth was involved in the harriers and ran at a high level and was picked for English schools and was a County Champion. The events which I excelled at were short anaerobic

Hello there...has anyone like me been on steroid inhalers for 25+ years for their asthma? Just wondered if it's caused you any other medical problems...particularly adrenal problems? Many thanks ☺

Lung Volume Reduction using Pulmonary Valves. (Revisited)
Back in November 2012, I wrote an article "Lung Volume Reduction using Pulmonary Valves. My experiences as a patient." The content of that post is still relevant, and may help some of the new members. So I decided to re-post it; Here it is:- Lung Volume Reduction using Pulmonary Valves. My experiences

Persistent bronchopneumonia
My daughter is 15 months but hasn't been officially diagnosed with asthma but does have persistent bronchopneumonia and wheeze. She has a salbutamol inhaler which does ease her symptoms but we're finding within a few days of stopping antibiotics her symptoms are worse and she's having temperatures again

Inhaler or Nebuliser???
I have at least four asthma flare ups a year. Right now, I'm having a bad flare up. In 16 years, this is the worst flare I have had. I take symbicort 160/4.5, montelukast (singulair), and Omeprezole everyday. I also take albuterol as my rescue. I'm wondering if a nebuliser would help me out. Thanks!!
