Rotigotine patch
He ruled out Parkinson's and peripheral neuropathy after examining me... he suggested
Rotigotine
patch.. I've resisted drugs so far.. 10 years+... As didn't want augmentation nor nasty day time side effects... Could anyone help me with advice or comments please.. Thank you Janland

Severe rls
The last time I spoke to my neurologist she suggested
Rotigotine
patches or ropinirole tablets but I refused because of my fears of augmentation I now am thinking maybe I should go down that road but with caution I do need help with deciding I currently take 150gm on Pregabalin and 60gm codeine nightly

Ecopipam and Dr. Ondo.
The main dopaminergic RLS medications (pramipexole, ropinirole,
rotigotine
and L-dopa) all mostly stimulate D2/3 receptors, but also stimulate D1 receptors to a lesser degree, especially L-dopa. We previously developed an animal model of RLS in mice and rats.

Time for a sea change?
“As for withdrawal, only
rotigotine
had a significant lower withdrawal rate than placebo. Besides, selegiline was more tolerable than bromocriptine (OR = 0.62, CI: 0.39 to 0.98) and pramipexole had a higher withdraw rate than levodopa.”

Too Much D1...anyone? The untold (?) story behind augmentation
There is - Neupro - aka
Rotigotine
. Ok, good, I guess. But why? It's gotta have something to do with mode of action, right? Maybe? Neupro is what I call a broad spectrum DA. I made that term up, or rather I borrowed it from its use in regards to antibiotics.

Is an opiate the way to go?
I currently take 100mg Pregabalin and use 2mg Neupro patch (
Rotigotine
) and these are to control my RLS.

Does anyone have experience using Neupro 2mg patches?
Rotigotine
is also a dopamine agonist, so no change there.

Rotigotine
According to my research
Rotigotine
has only very mild augmentation and, since I am suffering practically 24 hours a day anyway, how much more augmented can it get!?

Melatonin
When it came time to make a treatment plan he recommended a neuro patch,
Rotigotine
1mg increasing to 2mg in a week for RLS and 2-4mg of melatonin for sleep, to start.

Update: Newbie, starting medication - Rasagilene & Rotigotine (Neupro) patches
The upshot is that following that discussion I have started on 1 x Rasagilene 1 mg and 1 x
Rotigotine
(Neupro) patch (started with 2 mg and moved onto 4 mg). So far no benefit observed in terms of symptom relief from stiffness, rigidity or slowness etc.

Out with the old and in with the new
My gp suggested
Rotigotine
which seemed to be the answer, however after just a six weeks or so I'm beginning to feel less confident. Pennydreadful66

MEDICAL CANNABIS AND RLS
Unfortunately the RLS is getting worse with age and I have also been experiencing DOPAMINE AGONIST WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME as I have come off MIREPEXIN because of augmentation and weight gain, yet I am still on
ROTIGOTINE
patches which is again a DOPAMINE AGONIST which I find confusing that I am getting

Once a stable dose is reached, this effect often wears off.
Hi All - I'm currently on a 1mg
rotigotine
patch and have been for the last two years. Recently I've been suffering from extreme fatigue do you think this could be the
rotigotine
patch?

Does Rotigotine cause augmentation?
Having slowly withdrawn from taking ropinerole , I am now wearing a 2mg
Rotigotine
patch and all seems well but for how long. Has anyone had experience of augmentation with this drug as I can’t bear the thought of going through that again?

Gabapentin/Pregabalin - Who is actually finding this helps their RLS?
Augmentation is less likely with 24 hour Slow Release DA such as the
Rotigotine
Neupropatch or Prolonged Release Mirapex. But the marvellous thing is that in combination with the fairly harmless co-dydramol it works very well. And constipation can be relieved with high strength Senokot.

How to live with RLS
Update: Back on the
Rotigotine
Patch. RLS is getting worse, (if that is possible?) It has taken and continues to take so much from me. It has beaten me. GP/Specialist cant/won't help me either. There is just no hope for us RLS sufferers.
