Newbie here....Inhalers not helping....
Hi, about 6 weeks ago I asked my doctor about my breathing (no immediate history of asthma - did have inhaler as a kid when I had lots of chest infections; immediate family members have asthma). Peak flow (EU) was about 330-370 (34 yo female 5ft 9in). Used Qvar for about 5 weeks and peak flow was still

Serevent Problems
Just wondering if anyone has had problems with Serevent at all? I've had asthma for about 17 years, but for the last 5 years had the most awful cough. All of the doctors I saw either gave me antibiotics or steroids but the cough still persisted. Last August I was at the end of my tether with it,

Really sore throat
Have recently been prescribed Qvar and Oxis. My throat is so sore and my voice keeps disappearing, in spite of rinsing my mouth out and cleaning my teeth after each inhalation. Can anyone suggest a remedy for easing this. I cannot see any evidence of fungal infection. Is this a common occcurence,

Advice re getting GP to listen!
I have had minor asthma problems for many years which when neccessary I have used a blue inhaler - but very rarely. At the end of last year I had to visit London for work for a fortnight during which my asthma got much worse. i assumed it was linked to the extra pollution (I live in rural Suffolk)

Newbie Advice please
Hi, I did post a similar message to this a few days ago but got no reply so am hoping I'll be luckier this time. I'll try to make it briefer and clearer. I was diagnosed with Asthma this summer after having problems for about a year. I kept getting worse and the medication just wasn't working. Finally

Alternatives to QVAR 100/steroids
Hello again. I wonder if anybody can tell me if there are any preventers that are non steroidal? I have a weight problem at the best of times but I feel even worse since starting on the QVAR 3 months ago. I am also getting spots on my face and neck, something I have never had before, and slight puffiness

importance of reading pt leaflets befor taking medicines
Hello Yesterday I saw my local consultant who prescribed me qvar. As usual I read the pt leaflet to find it contains ethanol-Ive had problems before with ethanol. Why o why isnt it printed on the box? instead of only on the pt leaflet ? it cant be re prescribed as ive broken the seal of the box

Inhalers and worsening asthma symptoms
Hi, I am a 60 year old female. Been using inhalers for some years now. I was having combivent and beclametosone - two puffs each twice a day. This was my maintenance dose and needed both as I would have symptoms every day. However, all was good with this. My peak flow was a constant 450 after useage.

Newbie - prevention of exacerbations
Wondered if you had any thoughts. I would say I have moderate asthma (generally well controlled with fostair and salbutamol). Except that when I get a cold/cough I have ended up on steroids three times in last year - which is a lot for me (progression of disease?) - before that only had steroids about

Constant productive cough and voice problems
I'm new to this site and am looking for some information from people more used, if that'sthe right word, to asthma. I'm 64 and had asthma as a child, which resolved in my teens. I've always been a bit 'allergic' - nettle rash etc and I have perennial rhinitis. I think I picked up a viral infection in

My GP changed my Meds
After moving from Edinburgh to London, my new GP has changed my asthma meds, I used to have a Bricanyl Turbohaler (0.5mg), Pulvinal Beclometasone Diproprionate (0.2mg), and a green inhaler, and Beconase nasal spray. Now my new GP has changed me over to Qvar Easi-Breathe 100ug, and Ventolin Evohaler

Need a rant to people who understand!
Hi everyone! This is my first post on here but I've been reading the forum for a while and feel like I may as well join in! I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 13 but mostly got my symptoms around horses and eventually got to the point where I had to give up my horse and everything to do with them

Confused about symptoms
Hi, I'm new to this site so this is my first message. I was diagnosed with Asthma this summer. It has been confusing though. I started with quite a low dose of Qvar inhaler but it didn't help much so then I was given a higher dose plus a seratide inhaler also. This still didn't work so eventually I was

Can anyone enlighten me to the difference to Beclazone, QVAR, and Clenil Modulite? Are they all CFC free? Jen

Qvar 100
Hiya, is it normal to get a sore throat after using this for a few days? Prescribed it on Wednesday so been using it for 4 1/2 days and I have an uncomfortable, not raging, sore throat. Is this normal and can you prevent it? Ali

New to asthma
I have been recently diagnosed with cough variant asthma and wanted to know how others sufferers deal with it. I complained about a cough for 7 months and multiple visit to gp before being referred to a chest Specialist (after I insisted to be referred to) who diagnosed it. I'm a bit down really as don't
