She has lung cancer and has had 4 cycles of cisplatin/
pemetrexed
- she is now on maintenance
pemetrexed
only on a 4 week cycle (4 weeks rather than 3 as she had quite a lot of side effects initially).

Is anyone interested in speaking to the media about pemetrexed maintenance?
If you have experience of maintenance therapy and are willing to speak to a journalist for some news coverage on this can you let me know. If you send me a private message I will follow up with more information, best wishes Lorraine on behalf of the Information & Support team

Pemetrexed and cisplatin chemotherapy offered
I have been told I am going to get
Pemetrexed
and cisplatin chemo. I have a leaflet that I have yet to read. But basically I will have 4 lots of chemo over a 3 week cycle. I did get asked if I wanted a prognosis of length, I'm not sure my husband did but I wanted some idea.

Help about proposed treatment for NSC Lung Cancer
Hi everyone I saw the medical oncologist yesterday for the first time and he is proposing a course of Cisplatin &
Pemetrexed
(Alimta) combined. Then, if this is successful at stopping the spread/growth then Alimata every 3 weeks 'maintenance' for the foreseeable future.

Hi all. After 1 shot of palliative radiotherapy to her left lung for nsclc (with brain mets) and dexamethasone mum has improved greatly so
she has been offered chemo treatment with
pemetrexed
. She has a week to decide. Has anyone had this and how did it go for you?. I am looking for others opinions of this before we decide. We have not been told much at all such as if it will give her more time or what happens with no chemo.

Fluid on Lung? Fluid in Lung? Stopped Maintenance what next???
Unfortunately, I had to stop Maintenance Chemo -
Pemetrexed
after only 2 cycles. My Onc said my bone marrow was suffering and unable to fight infections. I was neutropenic and was hospitalised.

Docetaxel treatment & effects?
I have been on
Pemetrexed
maintenance which appears to have stopped working so my oncologist has now discussed the possibility of treatment with Docetaxel. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this treatment and what it was like?

Any experience of Docetaxol.
Couldn't undergo round 5 of Carbo/
Pemetrexed
today as platelets slightly low (84) but not low enough to have blood transfusion, so it was decided to leave it for a week.

Next step of the journey
Previously have tried Avastin, Carboplatin, Gemcitabine &
Pemetrexed
. Unfortunately non of which have been successful. All hopes now on Abraxane. My oncologist certainly isn't giving up and seems to be throwing everything at me, although I'm led to believe this is our last hope.

Chemotherapy has stopped working
I was diagnosed last year with NSCLC and completed 12, 3 weekly cycles of intravenous
Pemetrexed
, Carboplatin & Avastin chemotherapy. This proved very successful and stopped the tumour from progressing further.

Challenging time ahead
The oncologist believes that my body has become accustomed to my current treatment of Avastin and
Pemetrexed
which is why further tumours have grown. He has said he will do everything possible to prolong my life and I am willing to try or do anything.

Not such good news today
I now have to go down the traditional chemotherapy route on Carboplatin &
Pemetrexed
which I'm not looking forward to - but you have to keep trying. I know there are other possibilities down the road and new drugs are being developed all the time so I move on to stage 2 and see what happens.
