Haemolytic anaemia
My situation is I've had ET for 6 years, hydroxy , then
pegasys
for the last 18 months, finally my platelets are nearly down to normal, but haemoglobin has been steadily falling, now at 96.

ET Diagnostic Criteria
Hi, I have polycythemia vera- diagnosed about a year and half ago and being treated with
pegasys
. My brother in law is seeing a hematologist for rising platelet levels (presently >900) and was determined to be JAK2 negative.

Switch from HU to Pegasys - update 3.0
So, after nearly 15 months of HU, I’m stopping it as of today and carrying on with 45mcg
Pegasys
per week. She hinted I could eventually switch to Besremi, assuming it’s available for ET this/next year.

RED BLOOD CELLS
Good afternoon, Has any one out there seen their RED BLOOD CELL DISTRIBUTION WIDTH lower after taking
Pegasys
for a while? Ive successful been taking
Pegasys
for a couple of months now and I'm pleased with my platelets coming down from 1100 to 635 . I still get out of breath easily upon exercise.

Pegasys works on allele burden!!
Great news! Been on Peg for nearly two years now - first at 45mcg then up to 90mcg. My allele burden two years ago was 6, switched to a new lab and got a 10.2 last year, and now at 7.5. We are pleased with this reduction!

Pegasys: oxidation (dividing a dose into two)
Does anyone know if
Pegasys
remains stable and biologically active if you divide the contents of a single syringe into two doses (by drawing off half of it into a new empty syringe). The question is - does interferon stay stable despite contact with oxygen and remains usable within one week?

Hoffmann-La Roche Pegasys Alternative
I recently found out that Hoffmann-La Roche discontinued
Pegasys
and the worldwide rights for it were acquired by pharma&. Does anyone know what new brand names it is currently sold under? Or any peginterferon 2-a alternatives available in Europe?

Switch from HU to Pegasys - update 2.0!
6 weeks in and latest call from consultant: Platelets: 395, Hb: 155, Hct: 0.459 Will stay on 3x500mg a week for a while longer as PEG can take time to fully kick in, but liver, kidney and thyroid function all good and NO adverse reactions to date! In the gym now, renewing my vows to the cross-trainer

Pegasys and COVID?
With that, I’m curious if anyone has had a bout of covid while taking
pegasys
and what their experience was? I’ve not seen many of us who take
pegasys
come down with covid.

Starting Peg and Covid boosters
Probably starting
Pegasys
shortly. Seeing Haematologist tomorrow. Should I be pushing for a 4th Covid jab. Had 3rd one in September. Also does interferon make you more prone to infection? Thanks

Switch from HU to Pegasys - update!
I received an unscheduled call from my haematologist this morning to say that I’ve responded very well to PEG and that, consequently, I can now lower my weekly HU dose from 5 x 500mg to 3. Furthermore, she anticipates I can stop it altogether by the time of my next appointment, in 2 weeks’ time. So far

Traveling with Peg ?
I always assumed it requires immediate refrigeration ‘Store in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).Do not leave
PEGASYS
out of the refrigerator for more than 24 hours. Do not freeze or shake. Protect from light.

Update 6.0 - Besremi Begins
Mesa recommendation for the 45mcg
Pegasys
to Besremi conversion of 63mcg. Given that my HCT just popped up a bit for whatever reason, I consulted with the MPN Specialist about starting at 100mcg, which is the standard starting doe of Besremi (unless you are switching from HU).

To antivirals or not to antivirals
ET with CALR, on warfarin and 45mcg
Pegasys
every 4 weeks. 3 vaccines, last one in November. Just when I started hoping I was going to remain one of the few... COVID got me.
