Post-oesophagectomy corrective surgery
I underwent an
oesophagectomy
which removed my oesophagus and part of my stomach 2½ years ago but my recovery has stalled. I now have an “S” bend in my conduit (stomach remnant stretched to replace my oesophagus) which gives me grief whilst eating and results in continuous weight loss.

hello
He starts chemo next week and from our online research seems he is for a common treatment plan of 4 x FLOT,
oesophagectomy
, then 4 x FLOT. It’s been very scary and overwhelming but I am very glad I found this forum and have been reading up on all your posts.

Lanzoprazole and side effects
Hello, I am over 2 years past Ivor Lewis
oesophagectomy
and have been taking Lanzoprazole 15mg once a day, then Gavison at night. I’ve found that my folate and ferritin are low , probably caused by ppi use and wonder if anyone has managed to come off them.

Post Op abdominal pain
I am only 3 months post
oesophagectomy
and so appreciate it is still very early days into recovery. However, each morning between 0300 and 0600hr, I wake up with a nagging pain in the lower abdomen just below and to the left of the stomach incision.

Diabetes and oesophagectomy
I had an
oesophagectomy
(keyhole) in December 2021. I've made a slow, steady recovery and feel very lucky to be as well as I am today. I eat well but of course in much smaller quantities.I'm a type 2 diabetic and prior to my op I had my diabetes well controlled using Metformin and diet.

Exhausted!
76yr old male, 15months post
oesophagectomy
, eating same diet as pre cancer but obviously far less. Taking 20mg Omeprasole daily, no reflux issues at all. Struggling to maintain weight, 82kg pre-op, 66kg now. Main problem is exhaustion.

low blood sugar
Hi, I had an
oesophagectomy
almost 2 years ago and it’s been a difficult recovery process. I was very slim before the op and am now maintaining my new weight but can’t gain any.

constant nausea
my husband had an Ivor Lewis
oesophagectomy
in 2019. The operation had complications and left my husband in a bad way and 6 months in ICU. He survived against the odds, but 4 years + down the line he suffers with constant nausea and diarrhoea .

First Esophageal Cancer & now Gastric Cancer
Hi to all, I am a 14 year survivor of an Ivor-Lewis Open Esophagectomy. Unfortunately, after many months of throwing up and being unable to keep anything down, several EGD's, an EUS, a CT scan and then the one that we all know means business -- the Pet Scan. I was delivered the news that I now have

itchy irritated skin
I’ve had an esophagectomy and taking lansoprasole daily 30mg. I have developed itchy irritated skin in the past 2 months. Is this a common side effect of this medication?

Gastropersis after surgery
I had
oesophagectomy
last November, then had difficulty with tolerating food and spent 5 weeks in hospital with a feeding tube. After discharge, still with the feeding tube, I began to be able to slowly introduce food and am presently up to about 1000 calories, small amounts over the day.

Pyloric Stenosis post esophagectomy
Hi. I am a 14 yr. survivor of EC and had the open Ivor Lewis surgery done in 2009. Over the years I have had to have an EGD for "stretching" purposes when my throat tightened up from the scar tissue that the surgery had caused. This helped a great deal. It wasn't until recently, maybe the past 5

Oesophagectomy. Pain on reflux
I had an
oesophagectomy
9 years ago. I only get reflux occasionally, but when I do it is the worst pain ever. Burning like I swallowed acid. Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do when this happens because it really frightens me. I take lansoprazole last thing at night.

Oesophageal cancer
Doctors have differing opinions, some (respiratory) saying I'm aspirating but consultant says it's due to
oesophagectomy
. I had another CT yesterday so hopefully it will show what's happening.
