The Hospital Hokey Cokey
You go in to a&e, Out of a&e, In, out, in, out, And they pump you full of drugs, You wait and wait to see, if they’ve a bed for you And that’s what it’s all about! 😂😂😂 Oh the joys. At least today I had the entertainment of the a&e triage GP panicking, him wheeling me to resus and telling me off along

The chaos of an understaffed over-run hospital
Hi I have the utmost respect for my local hospital staff (docs and nurses) 😊 and the biggest ball of anger to the nhs funding cuts from the government 😤. For 5 hours yesterday evening I witnessed staff having to cover too many patients, leading to delays and misplaced notes, causing stressed staff

Severe/chronically poorly controlled asthma: what do people do with 'small' flares?
I know the usual advice for attacks/poor control etc, but what do people on here who have chronic poor control do for flares that are more than their baseline level, but not enough for hospital etc? (NB the following is very particular to me and is not something I am advising for anyone else, especially

Severe asthma attack ...still poorly
Hi guys I'll try and keep this as short as possible. I got out of hospital yesterday after a severe asthma attack. I didn't respond to nebulisers as much as they hoped so I had IV magnesium then had more or less continuous nebs and oxygen for 24 hours. I've been discharged on antibiotics, steroids 40mg

I'm new to this!
Am currently on a
nebulizer
and two different inhalers. But I do wonder are there certain foods better for me and will I be able to lose weight asking because of the steroids. I've always been told you can never lose weight while taking steroids.

Calling nebuliser users! RE: Help with choosing a new one
Having just found out that my Aquilon2 nebuliser was recalled in February (due to the manufacturer still marketing and distributing it after the withdrawal of the CE accreditation) I’m looking to buy a new nebuliser compressor. I have the older version of the Omron micro-air for when I’m out and about

Suspected asthma but no wheeze
I have been suffering with a cough for 2 months. It is worst at night, waking me from sleep and when I exercise. I saw a nurse about 5weeks ago and she suspected asthma. My peak flow was only 220, about half of what it should be. I was given a blue inhaler to relieve symptoms. I used this frequently

Hello BLF friends,💕 I’m sick, my lungs are burning, trying to ignore it, popping in the pred, paracetamol and inhaling nebs and getting on with my day. The weather is lovely and all. It had to be 😉 I’m seeing the specialist on Tuesday anyway so I’ll wait for the checkup. Bea’s been told to cook for

Sheffield Severe Asthma Service
I am now under Sheffield Severe Asthma Service seeing Prof Sabroe and Ros. I am on a Pulmicort 400 one puff twice a day. And blue inhaler every hour when displaying breathlessness. It was great to see a doctor and nurse who believed I was asthmatic even though I have never wheezed. It is also nice to

My GP just issued a
nebulizer
and steroid inhaler. There is a lot more to my story but I'm so exhausted to recall it all accurately. I'm scared and have no real answers. I found your site and hoping someone can help, even if it is bad news.

Tried all inhalers ...
There, they give me 2-3 times a mask with the
nebulizer
and I take 36mg Medrol/day for 5 days. I would be ok for 20 days (give or take) and then a new attack. Of course my asthma doctor has knowledge of all these and we plan all steps together. Last week I started singulair also.

Ended up in A & E on Monday - did the heat get the better of me!!!
Nebulizer
started, antibiotics given, steroids tabs given. During all this AF (I have permanent AF) was bouncing around all over the place. And me coughing for england. I really sounded like someone having a serious asthmas attack.

Should I get MMR vaccine?
Hi, I take a preventer (flutiform) every day and night and blue one for emergencies. I generally get 2-3 infections a year which require either hospital visit or nebuliser with course of antibiotics and oral steroids. Being in my 40’s I don’t believe I ever got the Mmr shot and measles seems to be
