so I had my mri yesterday. They confirmed what the cardiologist was looking for. They didn’t mention my mitral valve regurgitation, but confirmed that I have a thickened heart muscle. I’ve been told I have a swelling on left side of heart wall. haven’t been diagnosed with ^ as cardiologist said it could be many things? can anyone shed any light? If it is this can it be managed by medication or is surgery the only way, Is my goose cooked!

Underlying issue is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, diagnosed in 2020 while going through cancer treatment, also few episode's of AF Anyone had experience using Verapamil....TIA

Diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in Aug 2020... Last 3 AF episodes have all happened after being at a proffesional football match and walking back to car. Didn't have any alcohol or Caffeine, and never smoked....am I simply allergic to the fitba...#AF

Dear All, I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, AFib and VT episodes. I live in Somerset, but have had two ablations in St Barts. The last one was last May. Back in AFib again now and resting heart rate of about 110. On maximum meds.

He has AF and inherited hypertrophic cardiomyopathy from his mother. 3 years ago his ICD fired twice at home then 13 times in A &E while they tried to stop it.

It turned out that despite so many having this horror for no particular reason, mine was due to an inherited condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Time passes…. First ablation for fast AFib. A success.

hi I’ve always pondered why an echo in 2022 showed a EF of 55 to 60% (normal I think) and a cardiac / stress MRI showed EF of 74% in 2023 (also normal but have seen references that > than 74% means possible Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy but this was not a nhs /bhf reference).

hi peeps, I’m totally new to this site as I have been recently diagnosed with HC, I have been put on Ramipril once a day and seeing the cardiologist this week coming, I also have to have a 48 hour monitor fitted this week too, the palpitations are awful and come on so suddenly and make me feel so poorly

I also have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and that makes my heart walls thicker, which is the reason for the difficulty. They ultimately succeeded in all areas except the lower right saying that possibly “significant edema” was the cause of not getting through.

I have 3 AF episodes over last 3 years, Diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in Aug 2021, during Chemo/Radiotherapy treatment for cancer.

He has Aortic root dilation & hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The children's normally transfer the young person to Barts (London). I have been looking at St Thomas who has merged with Royal Brompton.

The A&E doctor said it could be hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and has booked him an appt in 2 weeks time to have a 72 hour ECG fitted and in 4 weeks for a heart echo.

I was diagnosed with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy in 2014 following admission to hospital with atrial fibrillation.
