Good morning My 17-year-old is starting transition from children hospital to adult hospital for his continuing care. He has Aortic root dilation & hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
The children's normally transfer the young person to Barts (London). I have been looking at St Thomas who has merged with Royal Brompton. Because of the two different conditions I was steering to request if we could transfer to Rotal Brompto. Could I ask if any of you lovely people have any experience of either of these hospitals in relation to your cardiology and wouldn't mind sharing to help me decide when we go for his next check-up. Thank you Brenda

Both myself and two sons are under the Brompton. I’ve been really impressed by how easy it is to communicate with them and the regular checks. My eldest son recently transferred from paediatric to adult services and the transition was smooth.
I would add that I was previously under Hammersmith Hospital. I was surprised by how little info can be shared between trusts sometimes. The Brompton pretty much started from scratch.
Thank you so much for this. at's really useful to know about sharing info between trusts. I want to make a decision during his transition. Thanks again. Was your eldest under Brompton's paediatrics? I wondering how easy it is to request referral to Brompton
Yes he was. I transferred there after he was referred following an “episode” and the Brompton also started monitoring my youngest. It made sense for us all to be under the same hospital. My youngest is still under paediatrics (although pretty much busting their height measure now!).
