In denial with diagnosis and differing opinions confusing me!
Anyway, he now takes 125mg
flixotide
and singulair granules 5mg with Salbutamol if needed. He has woken up on 3 occasions (always at night?) in the last 8 months with a barking cough where he was unable to catch is breath and said he was 'choking' and 'couldn't breathe'.

Doc visit after attack?
I take
Flixotide
, Montelukast and Intal (all medications had been correctly taken, including an extra puff of Intal prior to the run, and a dose of Salbutamol too as the air was slightly cold). Normally this would be fine.

Advice please?
My max peak flow is 570 and I usually hang about the 550 mark I had reduced to
Flixotide
250 1 puff twice a day and montelukast and still had no symptoms through the week About two months ago, my symptoms returned and my peak flow reduced to 400-450 so I upped my
Flixotide
back up to 2 puffs twice

Question about accuhaler packaging
I take accuhalers of both ventolin and
flixotide
. I am having a memory block and can not remember if both should be sealed in foil packs. The flexotide was in a sealed box, with the inhaler wrapped inside a sealed foil wrapping. However, the ventolin was in a Glaxo Wellcome marked box.

New symptoms, is it asthma?
I have just increased my
Flixotide
(250) from 1 puff twice a day to 2 puffs twice a day because I'd been getting an increase in my normal symptoms. Anyway the last few days I've been getting different symptoms and I'm confused as to whether its asthma or not.

GP restrictions on inhalers
I have been to the GP today to collect a repeat prescription for a fluticasone inhaler (
Flixotide
) to be told the practice does not prescribe these any more.

Frustrating
but given my symptoms, to increase the
Flixotide
to 6 puffs twice a day. This helped a little but not a great deal, but the cold cleared along with my asthma. I have no action plan so I don't know whether to see the asthma nurse again, or whether to just increase the
Flixotide
like last time.

Does anyone else get this?
Flovent is the Fluticasone or
Flixotide
steriod element. Atrovent is a brand name for ipratropium. Anyway, it seems you are seeing your doctor about this but perhaps best go back and maybe see another. A lot of people here also have problems with no wheeze and doctors.

No steroids ;-(
Anyway got to double my already doubled
flixotide
to 4 puffs twice a day for a week, then reduce. So we'll see how I get on, bit disappointed because last time I had a flare up like this i was given steroids which worked a treat.

Rescue Prednisolone at home?
I've tried doubling the Seretide or just using a separate
Flixotide
inhaler to increase the steroid component but I still run into problems. I don't have a written plan although I've asked for one quite a few times.

Pulmicort or Flixotide
Having been on
Flixotide
for many years i notice that Symbicort seems to be used by a lot of people this has a built in reliever and preventer. Has any body found that changing from
flixotide
as helped them because it does nothing for me these days, but doc said it was the best.

Symbicort or Flixotide/Oxis
I thought
flixotide
was supposed to be the best. Does any body seem to do better on one that the other. I am struggling and not sure what to do. Con said i should know which suits me best but at the moment i am not sure. Any advice welcome. Thanks.

Alfie and the Royal Brompton
He is concerned that on the very high doses of
flixotide
, regular pred and regular antibiotics that Alfie is still struggling to maintain control of his asthma. He wants to repeat Alfie's adrenal function test because his growth has slowed down and he is bruising easily.
