Tardive dyskinesia. Been on the causative med quetiapine 400 mg for 20 years.Unable to get off it. Been creative. I am a registered nurse.
I am an inpatient acute mental health nurse actually - for the last 15 years. I also have Bipolar disorder on lithium. Very well controlled. But side effects of quetiapine were becoming impossible to live with. I tried aripiprazole and a reduction in quetiapine to a disastrous effect. I appeared severely

Anyone taking GOCOVRI?
I take it for
dyskinesia
and to extend my "on" time. It helps the
dyskinesia
and helps "on" time a bit. No side effects that I know about. I tried Entacapone before that and it gave me bad dreams. My questions are; 1) Have you used it? 2). Did/does it help?

C/L induced dyskinesia - severe wrist pain
My mom has severe wrist pain due to Carbidopa Levdopa induced
dyskinesia
(25/100 x 3 times per day). Otherwise she is fine without any tremor. She says after C/L intake the pain is unbearable in her wrist. Infact, we can see inflammation (redness) in the wrist area.

Treating PD with levodopa combined with tetracycline (Effects of levodopa on gut bacterial antibiotic resistance in Parkinson’s disease rat)
The combination of levodopa and antibiotics, such as tetracycline and vancomycin, in the treatment of PD may decrease the amount of corresponding antibiotic resistance genes in gut bacteria, which would give a theoretical basis for treating PD with levodopa combined with tetracycline and vancomycin in

Mucuna Pruriens
Having stopped the Mucuna, her
dyskinesia
and brain fog almost immediately improved. Has anyone successfully been able to start taking Mucuna in place of the normal Sinemet medication? Can this be done and if so, what transition doses should one apply?

Requested help for further training of neurologist
My introduction to the new neurologist was rather disappointing. Apart from the fact that he did not even make any attempt to come across as somewhat understanding and social, this person again lacked constructive thinking about possible improvements to the PD and PN (peripheral neuropathy) situation

Has anybody had dyskinesia symptoms from Sinemet?
I wanted to keep this dose small because I don't want to get
dyskinesia
. The way I understand it from my Neurologist, is if the dose is higher (whatever that means), then anywhere from 3-7 years one can expect these symptoms to occur.

Olanzapine indefinitely
I might want to stay on it indefinitely but I’m scared of things like tardive
dyskinesia
which can come on once you’ve been on antipsychotics for a long time. Is anyone here staying on Olanzapine indefinitely?
