Taking control...a little
I've been making an effort this week to take more control of my health. I phoned the GP surgery and confirmed my rheumatology referral has been done at last. I've stuck to my calorie controlled diet and cut out alcohol. I've invested in some multi vitamins and glucosamine/omega 3 capsules. Although

Singulair Paediatric- 4mg
My little was diagnosed with asthma 12 months ago, he's 3 yrs old and suffers really badly with it. Yesterday i had to take him to an out of hours surgery and Dr there prescribed him Singulair Paediatric 4mg. The Dr told me to give him the tablet every night before bed, it has to be sucked or chewed.

Not allowed to wear coats at playtime??!
Hi everyone My 8 year old daughter is the asthmatic in our family and she has just started school. Previously we home schooled her. One of the many bizarre rules at her school is that the children are not allowed to wear their coats/jackets outside at playtime. I've been trying to ring the school

As the clock was about tic click over into the 5 week mark, she was successfully extubated and looked up at me for the first time, there are no words to describe that feeling as the tears rolled down my face, for sooooo long I have been in a dark scary place, a place where only I was honest to myself

A Treasured Gift!
I am not one for giving and receiving of expensive gifts, for me what makes a gift special is the thought that goes into it. You can keep your expensive jewelry, and hi tech gadgets, they are not for me. And during this current time when money for many people is tight, splashing out on expensive gifts

Accolate v Singulair
Has anyone taken Singulair but suffered side effects but been ok on Accolate? Our pharmacist tells me that it is a very similar drug. My husband had Singulair some time ago but suffered crippling stomach cramps but having just had his 6 monthly appointment with consultant he has been prescribed Accolate

From the Department of Unhelpful Comments... warning, rant alert!
Comment from friend who also has a chronic illness (not asthma) when I was saying how much I miss work. Friend: 'Well of course I HAVE to work, I can't afford not to so I just MAKE myself.' Well, I'm sorry, but the last time I 'made myself' go back to work, in June, after three days I ended up on

Feeling better already
I saw my GP yesterday and she changed my preventer from pulmicort to symbicort. I've only had a couple of doses but the addition of formoterol really seems to be doing the trick. Last night I had the best night's sleep I've had in ages and I'm feeling great. My peak flows are back up to my 610L/min pb

UTAG USB dog tags
Hi all, I just thought I would let everyone know what I think of this creation. It is a dog tag (like soldiers wear for identification purposes) with the option of having your basic details engraved onto it. With very little effort this dog tag turns into a USB stick. It has a programme on it where

change of meds, not sure if it's working
Hi all HAPPY HOLIDAYS Glad to see so many people getting through christmas OK. Just a quickie, my son was changed from Seretide 1000mg /day to Symbicort 1600mg - 2400mg/day on 12th of December. His control was not very good on Seratide hence the change. A couple of days before starting Symbicort
