40 years of RLS
Over the past 15 years, it has been diagnosed as severe.I have tried all of the
dopamine
drugs, none worked except for pramipexol, I have augmented and spent the past year still trying to get off this. I am under a sleep specialist and on 50mg of oxycodone per day.

update from Ruffabug (End of life plan)
After reading your replies I decided not to try to reduce the
Dopamine
Agonist Receptor drugs. I emailed my Neurologist and sent him a link to the Mayo Clinic algorythm. I then asked him if I could go ahead with the following plan.

Bad RLS.
He told me that the
dopamine
agonists were very strong drugs and he didn't want to put me on them at the age of 37. I told him about augmentation which he had never heard of. He recommended that I grin and bear it (far easier said than done!!).

Long term Ropinirole update
If I’m having symptoms then I try get an adrenaline /
dopamine
kick, which can sometimes stop them in their tracks temporarily (long enough to get to sleep). I sometimes watch my (racing driver) son’s races back, or possibly seek another natural high.

Help - kindling?
As described in my other posts, my
dopamine
agonist withdrawal is awful. I suffer from DAWS, and I've done several stays in an hospital neurology service, and they are doing their best to help me, but something is awfully wrong. I got out of the hospital the day after yesterday.

ADHD and Addiction

Dopamine
- once we have higher levels of
dopamine
, there is a bit of contentment and we don't always feel the need to 'do' something and engage in risky behavior. Lack of
dopamine
always puts us as risk because we are always 'seeking' something and that could be an addictive behavior.

UPDATE How to gradually reduce dosage of desiccated thyroid (armour)?
My spouse who has low
dopamine

Dopamine to Pregabalin transition advice, please
I started taking Mirapexin in 2002. My dose increased over the years, reaching 5 x 0.088 mg tablets four years ago when augmentation set in. Three years ago, my doctor prescribed pregabalin and allowed me to manage my transition from Mirapexin. I have not yet completed that transition. Today, I take

Praying increases release of
dopamine
.' 'Prayer can calm your nervous system, shutting down your fight or flight response. It can make you less reactive to negative emotions and less angry.

Will I always be on ADHD meds?
But let's be honest I cannot balance my
dopamine
levels naturally. (2) Not taking meds to balance my brain chemistry means that I will have to be close to a superhuman to function well. This takes away a lot of valuable time doing other things one enjoys.

DAWS success story?
But the neurologist told me that sometimes, quitting
dopamine
agonist can be impossible as DAWS can become permanent. In this case, I will have to add rotigotine to the mix..

How to use the prone position more efficiently
Moving into the prone position might change the pressure around the pituitary gland, potentially stimulating it to produce more hormones, which could then increase
dopamine
production.

Sleep for Pain relief
Overnight is fair enough because you expect systems to repair and renew and tine for
dopamine
stores to build. But for me, even a 15 minute nap can be enough. Why? What is the mechanism of action that turns pain off after just 15 mins of sleep??

HRT Question
I’m feeling so much better in myself and my husband says I’m much more relaxed, but still have a long list of ADHD symptoms and issues with executive functioning, I wonder if any of you ladies experienced this and if HRT helped, given that oestrogen and
dopamine
are interlinked?
