Ropinirole withdrawal: is it always agony?
Reports of
dopamine
agonist withdrawal are almost universally negative. But there must be some instances of relatively well-managed experiences. If you have knowledge of such examples, personal or reported, I would be very grateful for notification. Many thanks, Dick Jones.

Taking iron for RLS; Requip better than Mirapex?
It seems that Requip is another
dopamine
agonist, so I don't quite understand why it would be better. Any thoughts on whether Requip is better than Mirapex?

Parkinson’s Disease and Insulin Resistance
Increasing number of studies suggesting that Insulin Resistance negatively impacts
dopamine
functioning in the brain. Parkinson's symptoms, including tremors, stiffness, and slowness of movement, are caused by a lack of
dopamine
in the brain.

Question for nerds
(Low COMT tends to mean higher levels of
dopamine
, and vice versa.)" The placebo research is interesting in itself but what piqued my interest was the correlation of high COMT levels with a low level of
dopamine
and a low susceptibility to the placebo effect.

Neck and spinal column at the bottom of the picture - so looking at me from behind (above and behind) I'll translate from the french for you "Scintigraphic examination confirms a net depletion of of the presynaptic
dopamine
receptors, in a bilateral manner but more noticeable on the right.

Finally off Mirapex
Finally off the dreaded
Dopamine
Agonist, Mirapex and I’m suffering like crazy! I don’t even know how much Kratom I’ve taken tonight! I have my ice packs on and they’re not helping. I might as well bite the bullet while I’m sick and suffer through it.

Grateful for this Forum
Because of what I've learned here, I was able to say "no" to my doctor when she suggested I take a
dopamine
agonist. Based on your comments, I've apparently spared myself the agony of "augmentation."

All Of Me
Really all I know for sure is I’m allergic to phenobarbital, and anything containing
dopamine
magnifies this condition 10 fold. I am now working to get back in to see my local primary neurologist.

Review of Dr Marty Hinz amino acid protocol for the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease
Tyrosine is the precursor of L- Dopa, which in turn is the precursor of
Dopamine
that is in short supply in PD patients.
Dopamine
is the neurotransmitter that we need for nerve cells to communicate properly.

An interesting question from my wife
If the problem is lost
dopamine
, why does it tingle my leg one day, and then not the next, but make my arm shake instead? Just for 10 minutes. When I first started researching I came across the description "boutique disease" because no 2 PWP have the same symptoms or progression.

Grateful for this Forum (continued)
Other info I've learned on this forum, for which I'm grateful: I refused a prescription for a
dopamine
agonist and tossed out a prescription for Wellbutrin after what I've read on here about augmentation AND other research, which suggested that Wellbutrin can increase insomnia---the very last thing this

Ongoing stem cell clinical trials for PD
All will be injecting the cells directly into the basal ganglia part of the brain where the ends of the
dopamine
producing neurons live.

Triple herbal extract DA-9805 exerts a neuroprotective effect
In the MPTP-induced subacute PD model mice, oral administration of DA-9805 (Moutan cortex, Angelica Dahurica root, and Bupleurum root in a 1:1:1 mixture) recovered
dopamine
content as well as bradykinesia, as determined by the rotarod test. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-34240-x

Ropinirole for long airplane flights?
I remember the withdrawal after stopping a
dopamine
agonist as "h..." I am wondering if ropinirole can be taken on a short time basis, only on the days of her flights? Anyone have experience with using a
dopamine
agonist med short term for flights, movies, etc? Thanks for your help.

Why I want to research active microbiome therapies for Parkinsons
Dopamine
– whilst central to PD and effectively the definition of the disease, appears to be only part of the story. In looking for ways to stop the disease progress, it seemed that the “mechanism” itself creates a lot of the symptoms.

New Hope
Parkinson’s disease, said Dr Woodruff, is characterised by the loss of brain cells that produce
dopamine
, a chemical that co-ordinates motor control – and it’s the loss of
dopamine
that has been the focus of treatment.

Treatment
There is something about
dopamine
....an increase created? Not sure. During my first visit and treatment, I spoke to the doctor at length and he explained. It was over my head, and it still is. But I remember some of the stuff and it makes sense.

Informative article with links re PD and Gut microbiome
One well-known microbial candidate, Helicobacter pylori, may contribute to PD through multiple mechanisms, including altering gut microbiota composition, exacerbating inflammation, altering
dopamine
metabolism, worsening motor symptoms, and producing neurotoxic substances.
