Coming off Amiodarone
Hi to all, I have a date for my first ablation in Cardiff under Feong Long on the 1st December. I've had two cardioversions previously but am in constant arrhythmia. In the paperwork for the op it says to stop taking Amiodarone 3 weeks before the ablation. Has anyone had experience of stopping Amiodarone

Post cardioversion
An update as I am home now, actually slept last night, all night, first time for weeks. I think I am extraordinarily lucky to live in Chester, as the treatment I have had at the Countess of Chester has been fantastic. I feel reassured that if persistent AF reared its head again, it would be seen off

Cardioversion
So, admitted yesterday in fast AF, first time since diagnosis, off for
Cardioversion
this evening. Probable cause of AF seems to be sleep apnoea. Am impressed with treatment here, fingers crossed for this evening, will keep you posted

Back in AF after two days
I had a
cardioversion
last Friday, which did the trick. Sadly my heart went back into AF on Monday :-( I have follow up appointment in six weeks and the hospital say to wait for that, which seems crazy. From what I have read on here seems like an abrasion will probably be next.

Gone into Persistant AF
On return I visited my cardiologist at The Northern General Hospital in Sheffield and he has proposed Bisoprolol (1.25mg),
cardioversion
(to get me back to NSR) and an angiogram to check out my arteries. I guess this is the standard approach.

Any cardioversion success stories?
Im wondering if anyone has remained in normal rhythm indefinitley after

Possible second ablation
Now way forward is a 48 hour monitor followed by a
Cardioversion
then possibly a second ablation but waiting list is 12 months and as yet I am not on it. Although I listened carefully I'm not sure why I cannot go straight on waiting list. Please can anyone help to clarify this?

AF triggered by pregnancy hormones?
Have had a further 5 episodes all 'fixed' via
cardioversion
. Possibly the hormones are still to blame as only finished breast feeding recently. Anyone have a similar experience? Thanks Alison

ablation or not to have ablation
I am on the waiting list for ablation ( after going into AF for 6 months which required a
cardioversion
and then regular paroxysmal AF one episode requiring flecanide drip to stop) and currently on flecanide rivaroxiban and omeprazole.

Post Cardioversion
1 year on from my
Cardioversion
, and my heart is still not quite right. Still in normal rhythm, but really feel tight chested in stressful situations. Does a
Cardioversion
actually leave scarring or damage the heart in any way? Does it take a few years to recover or am I just noticing it more?

First Visit To Cardiologist
He went on to talk about having a
Cardioversion
and asked if I wanted to get that booked in while I was there or whether I wanted to go away and think about it.

Blocked Artery and Stents
I had
cardioversion
3 years ago and this was successful, exceptfor two short re-occurrences. The latest was about 3 weeks ago. It lasted about 48 hours and part way through I had a dizzy spell, felt nauseous, and sweated profusely. The sweating I put down to slight panic.

Another request for a London Hospital Recommendation
After a
cardioversion
some six months ago I was put on Amariodone which so far has been successful in preventing the return of atrial flutter.

Cryoablation
My local hospital has just signed me up for a
cardioversion
. My concern is that if the
cardioversion
is successful then they cannot (rather than will not) carry out the ablation. I do not understand if they have to be able to see the AF to be able to treat it, during the cryoablation proceedure.

Flecainide
It didn't so I ended up at Glenfield Hospital at about 11am where they gave me a successful chemical
Cardioversion
using Flecainide and kept me in over night for observation. I'm back home now with instructions to take 100mg of Flecainide daily. Does anyone else take this medication?

CHADSVASC of Zero But With History of AF - Is An Anticoagulant Recommended?
I have however had two conversions in A&E over a few years; the first corrected by IV Flecainide; the second an Electro-
cardioversion
. Both were successful at the time and were done within a few hours of the AF being Persistent. I.e.

Is there a happy ending for AF?
In this time I've had 4 Cardioversions and 2 Ablations, none of them successful till last Friday with my latest
Cardioversion
. I've been on Warfarin and Atenolol.
