Gone into Persistant AF

After about 7 years of getting one bout of AF a month, for the past 20 days, I have been in persistent AF. This happened to coincide with a 2 week holiday in Corsica. On return I visited my cardiologist at The Northern General Hospital in Sheffield and he has proposed Bisoprolol (1.25mg), cardioversion (to get me back to NSR) and an angiogram to check out my arteries. I guess this is the standard approach. He said they want to try this first before they would consider ablation. I am a bit concerned about side effects of Bisoprolol but I guess time will tell. He has said keep cycling but don't overdo it. He has left me to decide what overdoing it means!

I will be at the Patients Day in Birmingham on Sunday. I hope to see some of you there.

Hi AFCyclist,

Hope to see you on Sunday. I am a keen cyclist (city bike). I have been doing ok lately (touch wood), I take it easy up the hills, so my flutter does not kick in.

Best Wishes

Barry
