Cardioversion
They are suggesting I try a
cardioversion
, which I am having next Wednesday. Questions:- What are the chances of this actually working as I am unaware of the Afib - that could have been present before the PE perhaps? If it does work, how long will it last? If it doesn't - what then? "Live" with it?

Cardioversion today didn’t work
How long did anyone here wait for next step after failed
Cardioversion
? As in waiting see doctor then wait for ablation. So devastated as think I’m going to have to cancel holiday to USA as won’t get insurance whilst awaiting treatment doubt it will be sorted by February.

How often should we get an ECG
Still, my avatar is the same :-) I have had
cardioversion
(18th Sept 19) which has worked, I think, still no follow up appointment and I would have thought I would have one by now? How often would be reasonable for an ECG? Geoff

Symptomless Afib
I even went for a routine visit to the Cardio, completely unaware of the fact I was in AF, he said he could do a
cardioversion
if I liked, whilst I was there or just carry on with the medication. I opted for the
cardioversion
, which was quick and easy, but carried on with the tablets.

First Electro Cardioversion
I am anticipating my first electro
Cardioversion
(aka the paddles). I have a question. What are the risks? In particular, what are the chances of a clot being thrown out of the heart? I have been on Apixaban for about 2 years.

Update
I am on the list for a
cardioversion
although he said it might be a couple of months. He also suggested that I might like to consider an ablation in the future due to my age. All seems really scary at the moment. Take care everyone Deb x

GP Surgery will not offer thinning.... Help Please.
I may not be over 65 and may not be suffering hypertension, but at 53 I am a lot closer to 65 than when I had my first
cardioversion
at 23 and I do have periods where my BP can be 145/85......

No PIP after Ablation.
( With the
Cardioversion
the Consultant uses a different method to my previous three, he places one pad on the left chest and one directly behind it on the back, it requires less electricity apparently.

New episode
For context, I've had momentary palpitations for years but 2 years ago had an episode of AF with irregular heartbeat and needed a
cardioversion
to fix it. Since then I've been on 5mg Bisoprolol and Amlodipine daily to also keep high blood pressure in check.

I used to have a strong healthy heart
He did the
cardioversion
, echocardiogram and angiogram. The
cardioversion
got my heart back to normal for a brief time only. The echocardiogram showed enlarged left atrium, and the angiogram showed absolutely no obstructions in my blood vessels.

AF and heart failure
After
cardioversion
and anti-arrhythmic drugs, as well as metoprolol (beta blocker) and lisinopryl (ACE inhibitor), he has had no more AF and his heart failure drastically improved by March. And he had an ablation about six weeks ago.

18-month update - my linear weight-loss and maintenance.
I lost weight the way I am now maintaining: No counting - and a lifetime healthy eating LCHF/IF lifestyle. Weight loss can be quite linear (...I did Stay The Same one week early on, but I lost six pounds in two weeks - and left out the intervening plots!). I lost a stone at two pounds a week, and I lost

Can Iron deficiency cause AF ?
A blood test several months ago showed up low ferritin levels and 3 months after I had my first AF which I had a
cardioversion
for. Last week I had a new blood test and my ferritin level is exactly the same even after taking iron tablets for 6 months.

1st Cardioversion- reduced Meds
Well after almost 5 months from being diagnosed with PAF (symptom free I hasten to add ) I finally had my first cardio version at Barnet Hospital today!! Now in NSR 60bpm as opposed to 80/130 bpm. Meds being reduced Bisoprolol decrease from 7.5mg to 5mg. Diltiziam no longer required. Ramapril changed

He said the amiodarone was to prime me for the

a week later. On that scheduled date a echocardiogram was to be performed, thereafter would have a the
