What the next step would be
At least you have retained your sense of humour!I am 74 and had cardioversion 2 years ago. There were 4 on the list that afternoon and I was the only success, and that after 180 and 2 X 360 Joules. Nice burn marks front and back!
The Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. Missouris, said he continued till successful as I was fit and large, BMI 28. I was then given a pacemaker. Still go to cardiac exercise 2/week. Would love to run again, but knees worn out now.
I stayed positive with regard to exercise and use a powerplate and cycle, but no hills. Little and often.
Stay strong and best of luck next time. Nil illigitimae carborundum.
My husband had 2 cardioversions. The first one was unsuccessful-it lasted only 5 days.
Then he had a 2nd one and immediately went on a regime of Amiodarone. He stayed in rhythm for 3 months but the Amiodarone started affecting his liver.
It was then decided to do a pacemaker. He has a 3 lead unit 2 that synchronizes the heart chambers and the pacing a 3rd that is a defibrillator.
The morning after the procedure he woke up, got out of bed and his first words were “I feel great”. That was 18 months ago and the PM has been a miracle for him.
My husband will be 85 in May.
Something you may want to ask your cardiologist if your best solution could be a PM.
