High Testosterone after one month Leuprolide shot
His PSA come from more than 50 to 22, but I guess is only because
Bicalutamide
. His alkaline phosphatase is on 75. His platalets come from 100 to 220, but his Hemoglobine levels are still low with 11.2. Do You know what can we do in this case? Wait? A new shot?

Trying to Make Sense of Husbands Testosterone History and Wanting to Clarify Why a Doctor Feels He May Be Becoming CR.
It seemed strange to be to have Provenge recommended at this stage when the only medication Charlie has ever had are Lupron and 30 days of
Bicalutamide
. Having said that, Charlie takes 2500 mg of Metformin.

My father's metastatic cancer, a new challenge
Luckily the Leuprolide and
Bicalutamide
treatment are SOC and, therefore, given for free, but his MO suggested me to find a way to put him on Abiraterone treatment, since I know my father wouldnt agree to try Docexatel in this moment.

Told to discontinue Casodex (Bicalutamide)
My dad was put on Casodex for 3 months immediately post-chemo. So he was on Lupride + Casodex. Today we got his 3-monthly blood work reviewed, the MO has instructed to stop Casodex and continue with only Lupride and get back again after 3 months with blood reports. Jan (after chemo): PSA: 0.04, ALP

Should PSA be checked during hormone treatment while waiting for radiation?
In October, he was started on Lupron shots and then
bicalutamide
. The plan is to have radiation, but it has not yet been started because he had to have two other unrelated surgeries first.

Abiraterone Withdrawal Syndrome - anyone experience it?
I'm familiar with
bicalutamide
withdrawal syndrome: PSA increases after a while taking Casodex but goes down when Casodex is stopped. This is caused by the Androgen Receptor using
bicalutamide
to become activated, and is well known. I've even seen reports of this occurring with Xtandi (see below).

Epigenetic Therapy with Panobinostat Combined with Bicalutamide Rechallenge in Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer.
The primary endpoint was to determine the percentage of radiographic progression-free (rPF) patients at 36 weeks versus historic high-dose
bicalutamide
. RESULTS: In the model, panobinostat/
bicalutamide
demonstrated synergistic antitumor effect while reducing AR activity.

Dr. Schellhammer's own PC experience and thoughts
In 2008 with a testosterone level within the castrate range, and with a PSA on the rise after trial of
bicalutamide
withdrawal, I was searching for other options. There was no Level 1 evidence to support any pharmaceutical therapy at that time and unfortunately that remains true to this day."

Flutamide, bicalutamide, nilutamide, apalutamide or enzalutamide?
The combo I'm using is finasteride, tamsulosin and
bicalutamide
, which has kept my PSA <0.1 -- I've been told this cannot last but have seen enough evidence against that to give me pause. Should bical. fail anyway, which -utamide would you choose?

BAT final report (until the next one).
However response to rechallenge by bical was quite large (greater than original) but short lived, which perhaps suggests that my pre-BAT cancer already had a population of bical resistant cells, before any had even been exposed to
bicalutamide
. Interesting.

Darolutamide vs Proxalutamide - for a Hail Mary??
"Synonymous Alterations": ARL729L 0.6% I thought it was odd that Guardant suggests
Bicalutamide
(Casodex), which he took for a few months right after being diagnosed 3 years ago. Genetic tests, 3 years ago, of his tumor revealed somatic BRCA 2 and VHL (no idea what VHL is??)

Radiation with or without Antiandrogen Therapy in Recurrent PCa - a follow-up.
The conclusion was that: "The addition of 24 months of antiandrogen therapy with daily
bicalutamide
to salvage radiation therapy resulted in significantly higher rates of long-term overall survival and lower incidences of metastatic prostate cancer and death from prostate cancer than radiation therapy

Inverse Regulation of DHT Synthesis Enzymes 5α-Reductase Types 1 & 2 by the Androgen Receptor in Prostate Cancer - Endocrinology, April 2017
Furthermore, we showed that the antiandrogens
bicalutamide
and enzalutamide block the AR-mediated regulation of both SRD5A1 and SRD5A2, highlighting an additional mechanism explaining their beneficial effects in patients.

Bicalutamide
had been approved by the FDA a few years earlier. The paper presents an anecdotal case of a man "in whom flutamide controlled disease progression for 10 years" "after

failure".

All prostate cancer questions?
Has anyone experienced nausea when on Casodex(
bicalutamide
) daily pill and every three month hormone therapy injection? If yes, when did the nausea start? Is the nausea throughout the day or only when eating? What did you or the Dr do to help the nausea?
