Is it safe to use Avodart and Flomax with advanced prostate cáncer? I am tired of getting up to pee 7 or 8 times a night.

A question: is it safe to take Flomax and Avodart to improve urine flow? I am tired of having to get up to pee 7 or 8 times a night.

My MO prescribed bicalutamide and avodart after my 20 rounds of SBRT. My PSA went up to 21 after the SBRT. The bicalutamide I understand. I am leary of the avodart. I am concerned that it will mask PSA rise from cancer. Any thoughts on this?

My doc has prescribed this drug for benign prostatic hyperplasia. I need help with urinary frequency, urgency, and frequent night time urination. It is too early to tell if the drug is helping. While testosterone will convert to dihydrotestosterone [DHT] in the absence of Avodart, say, DHT is one's friend - until it isn't, imo. As with the vitamin D conversion of 25-D to 1,25-D, the presence of the strong hormone triggers its decay in prostatic cells.

It seems odd to just sit and let the disease run when perhaps there are some things I could do to slow the progression, like Avodart. OTOH I clearly have BCR so is it better in the long run to get to the scan/definitive Tx sooner than later? Or 3rd option - hit it hard w/ ADT3 now?

Avodart worked for awhile. Eventually HT (Lupron + Casodex) in mid 2013. Worked great. Since then lengthy HT vacations 12/19/22-6/22/23 ---Orgovyx.

(View Ray)Our US Prostate leader is recommending Avodart to keep the PSA down for as long as possible then Casodex until something better comes available. What are your thoughts on avoiding radiation. I have no problem watching PSA just don’t won’t it to metastasized. Thanks Mark

I believe the general rule of thumb is on 5-ARIs like Avodart (Dutasteride) you are supposed to double the PSA reading to get the "real" PSA?

In September 2022 I had image guided SBRT utilizing ViewRay Technology for a 3+4 gleason grade, low decipher score, PSA 2.7 before treatment, on Avodart for BPH. Been monitoring PSAs and Testosterone every three months, and remaining on Avodart.

Saw Tanya Dorff in USC and was put on triple hormone therapy with 90 day lupron. and Casodex and Avodart Dorff believed in intermittent therapy and was i was given a holiday from treatment if psa and testosterone were hormone sensitive between 9 months to a year until psa started its climb.

Is there any support for taking Avodart with Apalutamide to extend castrate sensitivity? I have been on Lupron/Apalutamide for >2 years now. Are there any studies that suggest Lu177 is effective in a castrate sensitive patient?

Taking Avodart for ten years and doing many lifestyle changes per Snuffy Meyers kept my PSA low for a decade but when I stopped Avodart for a month 3 years ago PSA began to rise .
