Is it normal to have Chemo before and after surgery
I am 51 and was diagnosed with
adenocarcinoma
of the oesophagus in May of this year after years of indigestion and reflux that I did nothing about. (what sent me to my doctor was that I vomited blood). After staging I was told that I had very early cancer, stage 1 with 1 lymph node involved.

Medical jargon
Tests have confirmed a couple of nodes above the anastomosis which are
adenocarcinoma
(what does the word mean ) plus mediastinal lymph nodes (again, translation please ). This information is from my copy of the consultants letter to my GP. Any information will be appreciated.

Bad News (Secondary Cancer)
They then told me that I have
Adenocarcinoma
of the lungs as it has spread to the other lung and is stage 4. This has been a big shock as I have never smoked and had a clear chest X-ray last year, so it's frightening that this cancer can get this bad so quickly.

Scan Results
He said the results were not clear due to my type of cancer, which is stage 4 Papillary Serous
Adenocarcinoma
High grade.I know i have 'bits' on my diaphram', and a small amount of fluid around the bowel area, but he said just because we can't see where the disease is, it doesn't mean it's not there,

Barretts esophagus
My surgeon says my
adenocarcinoma
was caused by Barretts esophagus, and that is caused by digestive acids scarring the esophagus, and that is caused by indigestion, the acids not staying in the stomach where they belong.

Ovarian cancer and brain tumour?
I have just been diagnosed with a meningioma 18 months after finishing chemo for ovarian cancer (clear cell
adenocarcinoma
). Has anyone here experienced similar? It is early days and it is as yet not clear whether the two are related. (The GP seems to think not.)

Pancreatic Cancer Survivor
I was diagnosed with an inoperable
adenocarcinoma
in the head of the pancreas in Jan 2007. Yes, 6 years in a few months. Resection was not possible as the tumor surrounds the superior mesenteric artery.

Update from lung cancer study day and other things :)
What works well for Squamous doesn't work well for
Adenocarcinoma
and visa versa. It was only in 2009 a that biological therapies like Iressa and Tarceva were being looked at to treat stage 4, that's only 3 tears ago. They are seeing remarkable increases in survival.

Dad diagnosed with Lung Cancer
They thinks its
adenocarcinoma
but unable to tell from numerous tests. He is now on chemo, carboplatin and premextred every 3 weeks for a 6 time course. he seems to be doing well on the chemo. Has anyone else suffered with CUP and cancerous cells in the fluid?

Monitoring after diagnoses of acid reflux.
I am now diagnosed with
adenocarcinoma
of the oesophageal junction. The good news is that early indications from the CT scan are that the cancer is still localised and has not spread. I am currently undergoing staging tests.

Is this bad?
I'm currently undergoing staging tests for
adenocarcinoma
of the oesophageal junction. The first test (CT Scan) indicated that the cancer was still localised and had not spread - which was good news of course.

why doctors advise for 6 sessions chemo and not more for ccoc ?
please could any one inform me why doctors suggests to make only 6 session of chemo for clear cell
adenocarcinoma
of the ovary and not more sessions 7 , 8 , 9 ...? .if we make more than 6 sessions of chemo does it increase the chance for not having recurence or it is the same ?

Has anyone's 1st chemo been unsuccessful and has anyone found a lump during chemo?
My mum was diagnosed with
adenocarcinoma
in November. She has a tumour in her right lung, deposits in her left, chest and pelvic bone. She started chemo in Jan, 3 weeks apart for 4 sessions, but after the 1st, found a lump on her side.
